There were few that Myth could truly call a friend. His budding interest in the tiny pouflon who visited him now and then was, at best, an acquaintance and the others whom Myth had interacted with in his youth, well, they had all but fallen out of his life. There was one in particular though that he kept in contact with loosely, Gideon. Gideon and his sister Mira had grown somewhat close to Myth over the years and while he might never admit it out loud, they were the closest he had to friends. So when Myth discovered a rather astonishing development in his vespire metamorphosis, so to speak, they were the first that came to mind to tell; partly because he had no idea how to process this transformation and partly because he quite literally had nowhere else to go, he couldn’t fit through his own doorway. Myth only hoped beyond hope that they would not be inside as well, then all was truly lost.

It was well past sunset when Gideon returned from a short outing, searching for plants that could help him further his studies. Mira was already inside their humble home, that much he knew from the warm light that’s shining through the windows. What he did not expect was the looming shadow in the distance to call his name with a very recognizable voice.

“Gideon! Gideon… come here!” It hissed. It sounded very much like Myth but Gideon had known the tall pouflon to be anything but composed; this was strange to say the least. Hesitantly Gideon took a step towards the figure.

“What the- Myth?”

“Yes, it’s me. I need to show you something”

“Okay, why are you being so weird about it?” The figure made a strangled sound, deep and slightly growl-like that was most certainly not a sound that Gideon had ever heard Myth make.

“Just promise me you won’t freak out?” Gideons’ brow furrowed, this was getting way too weird for him.

“Gideon! Promise!” He sounded like a petulant bloom, Gideon snickered thinking that Myth really did get like this when he didn’t get his way so there was good chance this was, in fact the Mythralos he knew.

“Okay, Okay, I promise I won’t freak out. What’s up with y-” Gideon’s words caught in his mouth as the shadowy figure, covered by the thick canopy of the trees, almost doubled in height. Myth was tall, sure, much taller than Gideon but this figure was about a head or two taller still. Walking into the dim light stood a large vepire who, admittedly, looked an awful lot like Mythralos; distinctive dark and light split coloration with the deep blue, ice-like crystal horns. Gideon stared up at this vespire, eyes wide and mouth agape.

“Dude…”

“You said you wouldn’t freak out” Myth almost whined.

“You’re huge!” Gideon’s surprise was starting to fade as he took in his friend’s appearance. Myth did indeed seem to be a full vespire right before his eyes.

“I- what? Yes, I’m naturally tall so it only makes sense that this form is also… huge.” Myth grimaced a little as Gideon circled around him once, looking him over. Gideon poked and prodded at him all the while, eliciting a grumble from the vespire. “What are you doing?”

“Making sure this isn’t an illusion. This is incredible!”

“I don’t agree.” He deadpanned.

“How could you not?” Gideon’s face twisted into disgust at Myth’s lack of enthusiasm. “Isn’t this technically what you always wanted anyway? I thought our research was going in this direction anyway?”

“My research had no such intentions.” Emphasis on ‘my’ gained Myth an eye roll from the striped pouflon. A squeaky ‘eep’ brought their attention to the doorway where an astonished Mira stood.

“Myth!?” Her voice was loud, nearing shrill with surprise. She trotted up to them, doing almost exactly the same as Gideon had done, circling around Myth in observation. “What did you do?!”

“I-I didn’t do anything.” Gideon began.

“Not you, Myth! How did this happen?” She reached out for his hand, something Myth wasn’t quite used to having yet, and inspected his claws; all seemed functioning and satisfactory to her as she beamed up at him after placing his hand back down on the ground. Myth just blinked down at her, not sure how to answer.

“It just… happened?” There was a bit of sheepishness in his voice. He really didn’t have an explanation. Mira tilted her head, shifting her gaze over to Gideon who met her look with an equally confused look. Myth suddenly felt like he shouldn’t have come here, he didn’t know if or how they could help him and this was starting to feel like a bad idea. “Right, uh, well I…” He didn’t know what to say, he didn’t think this far ahead; shaking his head he scolded himself for not thinking things through.

“Why don’t we have something to eat? You can tell us more after, hm?” Mira suggested.

“I won’t fit through the door.” Myth blurted out suddenly, earning a laugh from his two friends.

“Yeah, we can see that.” Gideon raised his eyebrows as he moved to go inside with his sister. “We’ll bring something outside, I’m sure there’s some solution to… this.” Gideon motioned towards Myth. Myth only nodded, looking a little bit dejected as the two disappeared inside their house. He let out a sound of frustration, looking up to the sky that was now dotted with stars.

“What am I going to do now…”
