Sandleap had been promptly minding his own business as Redstorm suddenly made it apparent she was rather annoyed, and wanted everybody to go hunt, the dark cream tabby jolting at the sudden malice and annoyance evident in her voice. The tom had just laid down under some shade after some training, and promptly stood up. Blinking his dark pumpkin orange optics, he licked down a ruffled patch of fur on his chest, and made his way over to the nearest patrol, which Cinnamonrust was happening to lead at the moment, and accepted Lilacpaw, who seemed rather eager to join such a big patrol. He gazed at the cats he would be hunting with, and recognized a few cats, notably Redwhisker, who he was familiar with, and would consider a friend. He raised a paw when the dark reddish gray tom called his name. ”Present.” Meowed the tall warrior, once Cinnamonrust called all their names and made sure everybody was here, they were off into the tangled woods.

Sniffing the air, he looked around for any sign of prey. He walked through a hollowed log and found nothing inside, sadly, and promptly exited. He  contemplated his talk with Softbird, and silently wondered if he had been a tad bit too harsh on the elder. No, he thought, you were alright, just a bit conflicted, and made it obvious you needed some time to think, that’s all.

He followed the rest of the patrol, and realized their patrol leader had fallen behind. Stopping, he peered back, over his shoulder, just in time to see the poor warrior get hit in the face with a branch. He stifled a small snort that threatened to escape. The woods were rather sassy today, weren’t they? He stood and waited for the other to catch up, before they swiftly joined the patrol once more. They swiftly crossed a small creek, when Bluewing decided to speak, and voice their hopes for the hunt. "Maybe we’ll find a simple mouse nest! Those things make tasty snacks!” Mewed the warrior with evident excitement.

“Ooh I hope we don’t find a frog... I hate the taste of frogs, you know. They make me croak." said Lynxpaw, and the dark cream tabby promptly chuckled and rolled his eyes at the pun. “It might be a rabbit, you know. I hear they're bigger in the forest than the meadows.” Sandleap said with slight enthusiasm.

“Yeah, I guess those all sound nice, But do you guys know what it's all about?" Cinnamonrust said with a smug smile upon his face.

"What’s it all about, Cinnamon?” Meowed Redwhisker in reply, twitching their ears in curiosity.

“Pheasant.” The dark reddish gray warrior smugly replied, with a big smirk.

Soon enough everybody was excitedly saying the name of the bird.” Pheasant…?” Sandleap meowed in a confused manner, and everybody got a bit too loud,  scaring away a good amount of prey, to which Cinnamonrust apologized, suggesting they continued their hunt, looking a tad bit embarrassed.

After a failed attempt to catch a mouse, it was evident to everybody this  method of hunting wasn’t exactly working, and everybody decided to split  up, and try to catch something on their own. Sighing, Sandleap detected  some movement under the ground, and saw the scuffling of large clawed paws in a mound of dirt, digging away. Getting into a crouching  position, his pupils dilated in excitement and utter focus, as he stalked the mole inside the ground, and once he got close enough, he tensed his long legs, and launched himself at the mound of dirt, claws unsheathed, and teeth bared.
