Lynxpaw was snuggled in his nest, perfectly content to be warm and comfortable- and most importantly, asleep. It was ruined though as Cinnamonrust barged into the den, calling for the apprentices to wake up. "Come on you lazy lumps!" he called, way too happy for how early it was. "Vinepaw, Lilacpaw and Lynxpaw! You're going hunting in the tangled forest today!" he chirped, practically bouncing out of the den. Groaning, Lynxpaw got out of his nest in a sprawled mess of limbs- he was still sore from when he last went hunting. Blinking sleep out of his eyes, the fawn apprentice stumbled out of the apprentice den alongside Vinepaw and Lilacpaw. The two other apprentices didn't look any better,  both of them not fully awake either. He yawned, the last remains of sleep leaving him as he stretched out, looking around for where Cinnamonrust had gone off to. Lynxpaw spotted him in a corner of the clearing, happily chattering away to Bluewing, who was answering back just as enthused. Lynxpaw had to suppress a groan at how chipper they were for sunrise.

The tom padded over with his fellow apprentices, the two shorter apprentices having to go slightly faster to keep up with Lynxpaw's long legs. Once they arrived in front of the warriors, Lynxpaw's green eyes were drawn to where Sandleap and Spiderleg were making their way over to the group- neither looked happy to be up so early. Lynxpaw winced in sympathy, both warriors had been out late because of how long their patrol leader took checking borders. The darker warrior, Spiderleg, still was blinking tiredness from his eyes, yawning. Sandleap wasn't much better, but at least it didn't look like she was hit by a badger. He was about to make a comment about them but Pebblecreek and Redwhisker came up as well, the three warriors talking about something concerning a bird, a ditch, and a dare. Lynxpaw didn't even want to know.

Once all the cats were there, Cinnamonrust stood up to look at them all. "Alright," he grinned, tail flicking in excitement, "We're going to hunt in the tangled forest, so that's why we needed to many cats!" the tom continued, looking over the group. Sandleap and Spiderleg groaned, obviously not wanting to even go out that day. "Why can't you take other cats? I've been out all night!" Spiderleg almost yelled, but was too tired to actually raise his voice much. Sandleap voiced his displeasure as well, obviously irritated with having to do double patrol in such a short time span. Cinnamonrust just grinned at them, white fangs- which were way too bright in Lynxpaw's opinion- showing. "You both are coming because Redstorm wanted you to! Now, I'm not sure about you, but I don't wanna make her angry," the tom told the duo, who looked absolutely terrified. "O-Of course." Sandleap murmured, instinctively crouching in absolute terror of the Stormclan deputy. "Y-Yeah, no problem," Spiderleg said, suddenly all-too-ready for another patrol. Lynxpaw snickered at the two toms, but quickly shut up after a glare from Pebblecreek.

After some more talking, Cinnamonrust and Bluewing took charge and the group set out for the tangled forest. Making their way through the territory, Lynxpaw looked to the various plants and trees that grew in Stormclan territory. Vinepaw noticed his inattention and smirked, whispering to Lilacpaw who soon also had a sinister smirk. The two apprentices carefully made their way so that one was on either side of Lynxpaw, boxing him in. With a nod from Vinepaw, Lilacpaw slipped behind the tom and crouched in her step. Once Lilacpaw was in place, Vinepaw pretend to trip and ran into Lynxpaw, making the tom stumble into Lilacpaw and fall into a spot of mud that was in the patrol's path. Getting up and sputtering, he looked to the two laughing she-cats along with Redwhisker, who had seen the entire thing. "Why'd you guys do this?!" he asked, a little angered but there was still some amusement under his words. "You always complain your pelt is too light, so we thought we'd fix it for you!" Lilacpaw joked, standing at the edge of the mud puddle. Seeing his chance, the fawn apprentice got a pawful of mud and flung it at the other apprentice. Lilacpaw barely got out of the way, and the mud hit Cinnamonrust.

Lynxpaw froze for a moment but eased when Bluewing started laughing. "Wow! Who knew we would have to look out for mud!" Bluewing told Cinnamonrust, laughter in the cat's voice. "Yeah, ha ha very funny," Cinnamonrust replied, trying to wipe the mud off. Lynxpaw was about to apologize but more mud from Lilacpaw caught him in the face. Laughing, the tom flung mud back, finally hitting his target. With a war cry, Vinepaw flung mud at Lynxpaw- missing him completely and hitting Bluewing. "Oh, you'll pay!" Bluewing laughed, grabbing more mud and flinging it at the apprentice.

Soon enough, it evolved into an all-out mud war between the apprentices and the warriors. The warriors were about to win by cornering Lynxpaw and his fellow apprentices when Redstorm and her own patrol came through. Immediately, the patrol all slunk back, clear embarrassment coming off them in waves. "And what do you think you're doing?" Redstorm demanded, irritated looking. "W-Well we were going to hunt-" Cinnamonrust started, but was cut off by the furious deputy. "Hunting? Well where is your prey?" she asked, expecting an answer. "Uh, we don't have any ye-" the tom began once more, but again was cut off by Redstorm. "Well get hunting then!" she ordered, making her own patrol snicker. Cinnamonrust's patrol quickly scrambled together and took off to the tangled forest.
