Qyii sat across from Soulska, neither bothered by the layer of snow coating the ground, nor the chilly breeze that often swept through these wastelands beyond Jurrica.

Explain this… “Veil,” to me.’ Soulska requested through their usual telepathic means. The “words” danced with meaning and color, made up of emotion and concepts adding up to create definition rather than sounds creating words which are linked to learned meanings.

The veil is the sense of the world around you, the impression of the unseen.’ This “sense,” as it were, opened up to the elf, though only as an echo of what Qyii truly felt. Soulska became more aware of a force within both himself and Qyii; magic. Qyii was referring to his ability to sense the ebb and flow of magic, whether it be actively within the patterns of a spell, or lingering idly within its caster.

‘It can’t be seen, or truly felt, but people, things, and creatures can leave an invisible imprint. The more power a thing has over the veil, the more notable the impact is.’ To demonstrate, Qyii held out his hand and summoned a red wisp of plasma. The heat washed over them, as did this shared sense of the impact that magic had on quanix.
