Beginnings

''People often ask me about where I came from, but I don't want to tell them... I don't know.''

The night was cold and silent, not a single animal made a peep as the moons shone brightly above them. A figure ran through the grass, weaving through the trees, followed by something. The figure was the deity Naenarvas and in their arms they held a very small and fragile baby boy, Thirteen. Their ribbons illuminated the area around them, but also allow whomever was in pursuit to track them.
The deity panted, doing their best to keep a fair bit of distance between themselves and the person following them. '

'Nij'rul!'' They called out. ''Nij'rul I need help!'' They called out again. But their calls went unanswered.

The figure pursuing the deity started closing in before eventually... It disappeared? Taking a brief moment to rest, Naenarvas stopped in their tracks, huffing and puffing as they weren't used to this much exercise. They took a moment to look around, to see where they had ended up in their hurry.  As they looked around, they clutched their small child closer, gently wrapping part of their ribbons around him. He seemed to like it as his little hands reached out to the small beads that floated at the tips.

Their brief moment of peace was quickly cut short as the figure appeared again, a small cloud briefly appeared in front of the moon deity, and quickly shaped it's self into the form of a Skarrid. Libra. Apparently he was sent to fix A'vocks' problems. ''Give me the child, Naenarvas.'' He said, although his words were met with little more than a hiss from the Deity. ''We're both tired of running. Just give him up and return to your domain.''

''No! I wont give up my child!'' They responded, turning their child away from the other Avarri. ''A'vock is a fool if he expected I would without putting up a fight!" They exclaimed.

"I was hoping we could settle this like adults. Since you haven't yet tried to use your divine powers to tear me to shreds." The Skarrid said as he held out his arms. He didn't seem that threatened by the supposed murderer of the Mother Dragon and creator of the blood-thirsty creatures of the night. In fact, Naenarvas looked like they were at their least threatening, huddled over a small child that barely knew where he was.

"If I had only half a brain i would've killed you where you stood." The deity sneered. "But you and I both know that would only motivate brother dearest to hunt me down with the rest of his puppets."

"Good, we have no quarrel then. But i came to finish a job, and you of all people must know how cranky A'vock gets if something takes too long. We had a fun little chase, but it's over now. Hand me the child."

But before either of them could move, the earth beneath their feet rumbled and tore open into fissures. Trees that stood high once before were loudly creaking as they were mysteriously uprooted. It took a few moments for the rumbling of the earth to stop, and a large rock-covered face to raise out of the hole. It looked a lot like it was simply a large rock... until it opened it's giant green eyes. The pupils of the eyes expanded and dilated as it looked at the Avarris surrounding it. The rock groaned as it closed it's eyes for a brief moment.
"You're a long way from your luxurious cradle in Sa'vel." It spoke, it's voice was deep and felt like it ran through the earth beneath their feet.
"A'vock should really learn to deal with his own issues, rather than send a goon to do his dirty work." It said, focusing one of it's eyes to stare at the Skarrid.

"Nij'rul! Am i happy to finally get your attention! And perfect timing too!" Naenarvas exclaimed, relieved that their celestial friend finally decided to show up. They looked like they were certain that she would be able to fix this problem, or at least help them fend off their brother.

''Hrm.'' Nij'rul made as she raised her stony head further out of the ground. ''You've been yelling. I've heard.''

''You have to help me, Nij'rul! A'vock wants to take away my poor little baby!'' Naen told the mountain, gently cooing to their baby. ''Who would want to harm such a small little thing?''

Estriis shook his head, folding his arms behind his back before he spoke again. ''That child is a danger to this world. I'm simply trying to do my job.''

''He is not! A'vock simply wants to destroy the one thing that makes ME happy! All because he holds me accountable for what happened to his wife such a long time ago!'' Naenarvas objected. ''Ankarresh forgave me, so why can't my own brother?! Why does he feel such a need to erease every single mark I make on this world? The other deities are free to do as they please! Nij'rul is free to murder those mortals he cherishes so much and he doesn't object!''

''He tries to. I just refuse to listen. The god of order has no influence over me. And he shouldn't have such an influence over you, Naen.'' Nij'rul spoke. The stones that ran over her neck creaked and groaned as she shifted her head to look at Estriis. ''Run along now puppet. This little one is under my protection now. And A'vock knows that I will fight him over it, if he thinks about interfering again.'' She told him. She moved her head in a dismissive way, shooing the Skarrid away.

Estriis gave the two deities a bow, although he didn't leave just yet. ''I can't promise you I won't be back. But for now I will leave you be.'' He told them before disappearing into a cloud of smoke.

Naenarvas let out a sigh of relief and fell to their knees. ''You're safe little one.'' They told the small child with a trembling voice. They held him closer and gently ran their hand through his black hair.

''You're safe...''

''I do know that I was loved.''
