Little writings

Once upon a time - I know, I know, it's been done before. Done to death, and saying that it's been done has been done even more times. But it has a nice sound, tells you to gather. Reminds you that a story is coming. The cadence is familiar, comforting. You do not have to wonder what is coming next, for whatever it is, it is a story, and stories cannot hurt you. That's not true, we all know that's not true, but it's a sweet lie we tell ourselves when we want to forget that a story can neither hurt nor heal, cannot make you cry nor shake nor smile nor laugh. "Once upon a time" has been done, and so have all the feelings you can associate with it.

I tell you this story, not to seem pompous, or loud, or unusual.
