Balthazar was always bullied.

He was one of the “cult kids”. Mysterious origins, crazy eyes, sharp claws, those crazy evil, cursed cult kids! So Balthazar wanted to prove himself, prove what he didn’t know.

A group of wynglings, bullies and their posse, said to him, that if he wanted to prove himself he’d need to steal something for them.

They pointed to the store he should steal from, smiling at him, saying they’d stop the bulling if he did.

So he wet off.

He went in and took a hat, was careful that no one saw him go to the door, and no gro did. But one step outside the door a growl and snarl came, the owners runeboo had seen him.

He ran down an ally trying to escape the boo, hearing laughs far away, followed by barks getting closer. He hadn’t gotten far before his claws where yanked away, the boo had bitten the cap in his hands but Balthazar hadn’t lost his grip.

His heart was beating fast and the boo was staring straight into his eyes, it teared harder and he could feel his grip slipping.

‘No no no! You stupid mutt! Don’t ruin my chance!’ He thought.

He was desperate, he closed his eyes and swung, he felt his claws tear skin and a last yank on the hat before a loud yelp and whining.

He opened his eyes and saw his paw full of blood and the hat ripped. He yelled in anger, the mutt had still ruined him.

He ran back to the group still panting, they where chatting barely noticing him.

Before he could even give them the hat they had disappointed faces on them. He thought he heard chatter of ‘oh damn it, he survived’, but the leader was already mocking him for getting almost getting caught and for ruining the hat. The others where laughing or not even paying him any attention.

Amongst the laughing, he slowly put on the cap.

He yelled.

“YOU STUPID MUTT!”

And he swung for the eyes.

He no longer had anything to prove.
