“ew ew ew-”

Ryn half ran through Miko’s patented secret tunnel as sounds of thunder rolled closer. Of al the days it had to rain it had to be today.. not only that but Ryn had completely forgot to get an umbrella. “This jerk better be waiting for me…” Ryn mumbled as she punched in an overly long code to get out. No rain yet! …No Jin either.. Ryn made a face as she stepped outside. It was late afternoon now. The streets were overly quiet. Aha. What was new. No one was out at night unless they were crazy. Call her certified crazy then! Ryn ensured everything was locked before heading down the alley. She was going to chew this old man out when she got home-

Home.

She’s been referring to his place like that for awhile now. Ryn internally reminded herself that it was not her ‘home’. It was simply Jin’s Place. Not a home. Ryn chewed on the inside of her mouth as she quickly ran through the quiet streets. It would be raining soon. That’s why no one was out. No one liked the rain these days. It didn’t spring oncoming life. It didn’t freshen up the plants. You would be crazy to let your kids play out in this stuff. A little didn’t hurt. But those downpours? That stuff stung. Speaking of rain… Ryn ducked under an awning at the first hint of a sprinkle. No she was fine. Overthinking it. Her footsteps quickened till she was in front of Jin’s door. His… uh. Place. Was decent from the outside. Jin was a well off member of society. Or as well off as you could get in this world. Ryn knocked a few times but didn’t get a quick enough answer. She clicked her tongue standing on her tip toes to peak through the crack in the door. Where was this guy! Did he forget she was coming back today? Ugh. The audacity of this man-

“Ryn. What are you doing?”

Ryn twirled around seeing a tall redhead behind her. His partially gloved hands were holding the keys to the compound and chocolate? Why…? Where did he even get that- “Jin! What the hell! You’re supposed to meet me at the gate where were you-” Ryn whined stepping aside to let the elder open the door for her. Jin simply hummed locking the door behind them, listening to her short rant.

“Ryn, what day is it?”

“Are you stupid? Did you lose a braincell living out here? I told you I could easily get us a nice place in the city-” Ryn huffed crossing her arms after sitting that weeks groceries down, “It’s Friday. Duh. I always come on Friday.”

Jin lifted his tail, removing specs of dust from his flowers, “Is it now?” Grey eyes flicked up to meet her dual toned ones. Ryn shifted slightly suddenly unsure of herself. It… was Friday right?

“is it not Friday?” Ryn whispered her fingers awkwardly messing with the gloves on her hands. Jin smiled slightly before pulling her up to him, “No, doll it’s Thursday… You’re a day early.”

“aha… whoops. Sorry work has really messed with me this week. New album went out which meant more pictures and.. I was stressed- My bad” Ryn sighed her head hitting the other’s chest.

Jin gently pat the back of her head as the sounds of rain finally started outside. “I wouldn’t want you walking here in the rain anyways. I know you city girls and your fancy weather monitoring system wouldn’t dare to get your hair wet anyways~” The elder purred twirling the longer side of her hair.

“E-Eh? What do you mean by that?? I do too get my hair wet?? You make it sound like we have some magic weather be gone machine!”

Jin shrugged dropping the chocolate bar into her hands, “I would not be surprised if you did- This is for you, dollie. If you came on the right day I might’ve put a bow on it”

“Wow as if the bow would make this more impressive.” Ryn mumbled looking over the chocolate bar. She was grateful, even if she didn’t show it. Real chocolate was hard to get your hands on. She wasn’t going to bother asking the method of how he ended up with this. She was more than certain it had to do with his line of uh.. work? Info… dealing? Weird. She didn’t get how that stuff made so much money yet he preferred to live out here. “Imma go change real quick-” Ryn said to excuse herself from him. She made her way upstairs to her room. Aka the room she had claimed as her own. Not that she really used it for anything other than changing. She typically slept in Jin’s room or in his study. She wouldn’t say it to his face but to be honest she felt safer when she was with him. And if he ever asked she would hit him with this room is warmer than the others. A rather big lie. Ryn was always cold now days. She assumed it had something to do with the side effects of the devil’s buff. She quickly changed into one of the outfits that Jin had bought for her. This one was just a warm hoodie and shorts. Comfy. Ryn slowly sat on her bed staring at the window across from her. This was the only room in the house that didn’t have boarded up windows at her request. Rain dripped down the window, falling onto the world below. In the distance she could see things moving. People? Monsters? Who knew it was far too far for her to make out what it could possibly be. Ryn sniffed stretching as she stood back up to go find Jin.  Afterall she couldn't stand watching rain all day. How boring... being stuck in doors... She found it strange that he wasn’t working in his study. She moved from one room to the next before eventually ending back up downstairs. “Jin?”

“Kitchen-”

Ryn peaked into the kitchen watching as Jin unloaded groceries for a moment before walking in. “are you cooking soon..”

“Are you hungry already?”

“Hey! I ran around last minute shopping for you- Um..no not really to be honest. I’m just bored aha.”

Jin smiled turning to ruffle her hair, “If you’re bored feel free to go peel potatoes.” He said handing her a potato peeler and gesturing to potatoes sitting on the counter. Her ears dropped but she walked past him to start peeling them. Boring. For once he wasn’t working and he didn’t want to spend time with her just wanted her to peel potatoes. Well at least that meant dinner would be soon! She quietly got to work, carefully peeling each one.  “what are you cooking today.”

Him cook. Not her. She wasn’t cooking anything. Rain or shine, Ryn refused to learn how to cook. Despite being born out here she grew up being spoiled.  Having maids and personal chefs… she really did live the dream huh? Ryn glanced up from what she was working on watching as Jin separated ingredients for tonight's dinner. He had a small smile hinting his face. Cute. He’s so cute.

“Something simple. You’ll see.” Jin reassured ruffling her hair one last time before washing his hands to start cooking. The kitchen was quiet other than the pattering sound of rain and the occasional roll of thunder. Ryn ended up sitting on the floor as she went through each potato. Boring… so boring. She would’ve been better off staying quiet and just watching Jin cook. Speaking of Jin cooking what was he making. It smelt like… She peaked her head up not to see what she expected and to see him filling dumpling wrappers instead?? “Why did you need potatoes…” Ryn mumbled giving Jin a slight glare. The elder simply smiled finding her annoyance amusing, “You said you were bored didn’t you? So I gave you something to do.” Ryn huffed, tail hitting the floor as she stood. She sat the last peeled potato into the pile then marched around to stand next to him. He didn’t seem too bothered by this behavior. Ryn was often childish. She threw temper tantrums when things didn’t go her way. Jin was far too used to this. He handed her a wrapper and a bit of filling before continuing his tedious procedure of wrapping dumplings. Ryn watched him carefully fold a few before trying it herself. But no matter how she did it the wrapper just refused to stay put. She huffed quietly getting slightly more peeved by the second. She hated this place. She was about to sit it down before he took her hands to help her finish it.

“You don’t have to mess with it too much, dear.” He took his hands away as he finished and Ryn looked over the dumpling. Hey that turned out pretty ok! She sat it in the pile before moving away to sit on the counter so he could cook them. Up on the counter, she leaned back against the wall. Sounds of steaming dumplings and light rain lulled her slowly to sleep. Just a few minutes… then dinner… but first… nap time.

She had to admit. Ryn felt pretty safe when she was home with Jin. Rain or shine. She was accepted here. And to her, that was a lovely thought.
