Koh’li looked out over his table of ingredients. This is the largest feast he’s ever attempted to make before, and that got his blood racing. He looked back at the dining hall, a couple of his friends had already arrived, so it was starting to get busy.

Where in gods name is Conner?

He’d sent the young Miqo’te out to hunt for gastornis and antelope ages ago! Conner had probably already wandered off and spent all the money Koh had sent with him for the persimmons he needed. Koh’li let out an exasperated sigh and walked outside.
The sun was silently lowering behind the horizon, casting rays of red and orange all over the balcony Koh’li now stood on. A cold breeze rushed by which made him pull his coat tighter around his body and walked over to the railing. He’d stood there for a while before feeling a soft nudge on his arm.

“Oh, hey, Ver! Did’ja just get here?” Koh’li smiled down at the shorter viera and he softy placed a hand on their head as they nodded.

“I’m so glad you could make it tonight!” He pulled a piece of bubble chocolate out of his pocket and offered it to them. Ver happily accepted it and immediately popped it in their mouth, smiling. Koh’li smiled as well and the two made their way back inside into the dining hall. Koh said goodbye to Ver and returned to the kitchen.

Conner had finally made it back with two gastornis, an antelope, and surprisingly the persimmons! “Wow, Conner!” Koh slapped the younger boy on the back. “I can’t believe you did it!” Conner shot a less than interested look at Koh and trudged into the dining hall. Koh’li now had everything he needed to create the most magical feast yet.

After a couple hours of delicate work, the roasted gastornis was complete. Koh’li finished up with a nice persimmon glaze and carried the large tray out into the dining hall. Everyone sat a a single, long table looking over at Koh. The sides, plates, and drinks had all been placed before hand, leaving only space for the tray. He placed it on the table and said, “Dinner is served!” Everyone smiled and started passing food around, reaching across eachother, and pouring drinks.

Koh'li beamed at his work and sat down at his place between Ver and Conner. “We should do this every year, Koh,” Conner said between bites. Ver smiled sweetly and nodded their head in agreement. Koh’li closed his eyes and smiled.
