Chapter One

Ollie jumps, feeling like he’s almost about to leap out of his own skin as he hears the crashing noise in his back garden. It sounds loud and he has no idea what it could be, it’s also the middle of the night. He closes his eyes again, and tries to press himself further into his bed, if he ignores it then it might go away, hopefully it will go away. Ollie tries to stay still, everything tensed up trying to ignore how he’s still quivering slightly, he’s sure it’s nothing dangerous, there’s never been anything even vaguely threatening in their town, unless if you well, acknowledge that fake legendary that they had, but even than he wasn’t really dangerous, just an annoyance. He just thinks he might be able to relax and forget about it when he finally thinks this and lets his body relax, a groan comes from outside of the window. It causes him to shoot upright, ears slicked backwards and he feels rather sick. That means whatever went crash wasn’t a thing, but rather a someone and he realises that, that means he should probably go check on them and make sure that they’re not actually that badly hurt. Slowly he crawls back out of his bed, slightly anxious about what he could find out there, he’s got a couple of good moves that he would be more then capable to use against anything, though he doesn’t necessarily have any real use. He heads to his window first, looking to see if there’s anyway that he can seem them from up his window, give him some sort of prep for what he’s going to encounter out there, maybe even reassure himself that it’s nothing he has to deal with. Looking out however, he can’t see any sign of the person that crashed into his garden, what he can however see, is a chunk of crushed tree and splattered flowers, that must have been incredibly painful, he thought that nothing would be able to take down that branch.
With a soft sigh, he pulls on his cowl before then running down the stairs, a little more worried now about the state that the visitor must be in from that fall, though Ollie has no idea where they could have fallen from, unless if they’re some sort of flyer, but even then, to crash like this? His anxiety grows as he gets into the kitchen, pausing once more before heading out the door, what he is hoping now is that they’re not too hurt in anyway. Heading out of the door, he heads towards where it looks like they must have crashed, aligning to the broken branch but also the crushed plants, which luckily also aren’t any of his favourite ones, he’d be rather upset if they were, though he knows that’s not the most important aspect right now. His pace slows as he begins to get closer, feeling nervous again, it could be basically anything after all, and they could be really hurt and that could make them dangerous as well.
“Hello? Is someone there, and if they are, are you okay?” Ollie calls out a little hesitant and trying his hardest to not let his voice waver, he’d be lying if he didn’t say that he wasn’t a little afraid. Maybe he should have seen if Marc was still awake to bring him out too, two is always better then one but he didn’t think that through, once he saw the chaos out the window, he just needed to see what was going on. There’s another groan before a soft
“’m good, I think.” The voice doesn’t seem harsh, so Ollie takes a further step forward,
“I don’t know how much help I’ll be, but do you need any. I can get bandages or food and water, where did you even come from, you’ve taken one hell of a fall and chunk out of my tree.” More words pool out of Ollie then he expects, and he flusters a little bit, padding his front paws in embarrassment even though he knows the person can’t see him. There’s a couple of seconds of silence, only interrupted by the night bugs chirping and slightly laboured breathing, Ollie count’s their breaths and they don’t seem too bad, just like they’ve had the wind completely knocked out of them.
“I think I’ve got this, though I would be more then grateful for a drink and somewhere comfortable to sit while I recover and work out where the heck I am.” The voice comes out again, they sound even softer and kinder now, which puts Ollie at ease.
“All right, I trust you not to be a murderer,” He chuckles slightly, “So I’ll leave my back door open and get you a glass of water, call if you can’t make it up without help.” Ollie tries to keep his nerve and waits for any type of response. The minute he hears a mmhmm of affirmation, in he heads, swinging the larger door open as he goes, he doesn’t know if they’re like him or larger, so better to be safe or sorry. It doesn’t take him long to fill up a jug of water, and take that and a cup into the living room, two trips so that he doesn’t spill anything. He does toss a blanket on the main sofa, it seems mean but if the other person is muddy or has any wounds he doesn’t really want that on his nice sofa. Just as Ollie finishes that he turns around to see the stranger, he pauses a second to take them in, they’d call them a human trainer, though they have animal ears and a tail. Ollie shakes his head, staring is rude, and he’s had plenty of looks himself through the years so he knows that they can hurt even if they don’t mean it. Ollie trots over and sits in his chair, before gesturing the humanoid to sit on the sofa, they do before they quickly pour a glass of water before downing it swiftly.
“I’m so sorry about your plants and all of this.” They gesture down themselves, “I got my calculations a bit off I don’t have any of their universe’s currency yet, but I assure you once I do, I shall pay you back.” Ollie’s eyes widen a bit at the strangers’ words, what do they mean about this universe?
“The- That’s okay, my name’s Ollie by the way.” He replies, shifting in his chair, so the person seems more then friendly, but they are very strange then. The other person then seems to register Ollie’s confusion, he pours and downs another glass of water quickly, before then starting to explain himself.
“Right yes, so sorry. My name’s Flynn, uuh you can use he or it pronouns for me, I uuuh,” He scratches behind his ear as it twitches slightly, “I prefer it honestly. I’m something called a dimension hopper, and I know that this is a lot to take in, I generally try to lay low but, yeah bad calculations.” He explains, Ollie sits in silence, simply nodding along as it explains. There’s defiantly a lot for him to take in, though if he’s honest, Ollie expected there to be more out there, he knows that they have other planets with life on, but universes, that’s pretty cool.
“Alright, so I think I’ve got this. You aren’t from my world, my dimension, but another, and you somehow have the ability to travel across them?” Ollie asks, and it nods.
“Yeah, pretty much, it’s not something universal. I mean, I’ve only met a couple other dimension hoppers and none so far have been from my home dimension. ‘m really sorry for just, dropping this on you. Though I have one more question, would looking more human, and dropping my ears and tail help me blend in more? I have the ability to do so, and I don’t want to attract too much unwanted attention.” It adds back, and Ollie nods softly.
“Yeah, if it’s not too difficult for you, you could probably just keep your ears if it works like that. There are some very human looking pokemon, though none really fit your traits.” Ollie laughs softly, and Flynn nods, the next thing Ollie knows is that Flynn’s tail is just gone.
“Look I’m so sorry for all of this, but could I possibly just stay the night?” Flynn asks, a little nervous, he knows it’s a lot for Ollie to take in. Upon this question, Ollie’s ears flick up,
“Oh yes, I’m so sorry, I almost forgot how late it is. I don’t have a spare bedroom at the moment, I’ve got someone in it, if you want you can stay on the sofa, I can bring you more blankets and give you some breakfast in the morning. You can stay as long as you like really, the spare room will be free soon.” Ollie smiles, his tail flicking behind himself happily. Flynn nods,
“I would be very grateful for that, Ollie, though I’ll try to get out of your fur as soon as possible.” Flynn responds, shifting slightly on the spot a little embarrassed.
The two of them sit in comfortable silence for a little bit, Flynn finally shifting until it is fully comfortable on the sofa, legs gently pulled up onto the sofa, it did look over at Ollie before it did it, simply because it was a little worried about Ollie’s rules about ‘human’ feet on the sofa. At least Ollie didn’t seem too taken about from Flynn’s appearance it knew before coming here that this universe has pokemon and humanoids of all sorts, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t stick out like a saw thumb every other universe they go to. Eventually, Ollie lets out a large yawn, it tries to stifle it with their paw, but it’s very clear to what it was.
“Right, it’s the middle of the night, you can head off to bed, I promise that I won’t go anyway other then this room and probably your bathroom,” Flynn hinges a human suitable toilet on the fact that this house seems to be adapted for the four-legged umbreon to live in it alone, “though bringing down an extra blanket would be very kind f you.” It smiles softly. Ollie nods, before jumping off of his chair and smiling up at Flynn,
“I’ll grab a couple extra blankets for you, the closest bathroom was the closed door you walked past to get here. Feel free to have a shower too if you want, I know you’re covered in mud and probably aching.” Ollie smiles softly with a waggle, “Though of course that’s fully optional, I don’t mind dirty blankets. I have someone else over at the moment, hence the lack of spare room, but I should be up before him. I don’t know when breakfast may be, but if you do get hungry, I have fruit or sandwich stuff out that I’m more then happy for you to take if you do get hungry.” Ollie smiles and Flynn smiles softly back.
“Thank you, you are really the kindest person I’ve met so far on all of my trips.” It grins softly, ears twitching with a slight head tilt. “I really need to find some way to repay you for all of your kindness.” It adds.
Ollie turns from the doorway where it had gotten to, glancing back at Flynn,
“No repayment necessarily, a good friend of mine has always told me to look out for others and then good things will happen to us. Though one thing I would like as repayment is a story from your travels, only one and I don’t mind what exactly it is.” Ollie smiles softly and turns to continue leaving before saying over his shoulder, “I also will have no idea if you’re making it up, if that’s your worry.” Flynn can’t help but laugh softly.
“Of course Ollie, though I can promise you it will be true, I have more then enough tales to tell.”
