It Probably Won't Explode
Leyline and Gate Guardian mess with a mysterious plastic/not plastic ball.

Leyline tapped the ball again. It wasn't a pokéball, he thought, because it wasn't opening or closing, but it definitely looked like a pokéball, albeit one with a smiley face on it. He pushed it with his head and rolled it across the grass until it hit a statue next to the park's entrance.
The winged eevee statue moved, looking down at the mysterious ball. Gate Guardian examined it with an unchanging expression before moving their head to look at Leyline. "Why are you playing with this?" they said–telepathically, of course, as they had no mouth. "You don't know what it is."
They rolled it back. Leyline, having no mouth or telepathic powers, could only respond by headbutting it again, harder this time.
The ball bounced off Gate Guardian's foot. They shook their head. "Really, what if it's dangerous in some way? It could be a bomb."
Leyline paused, tilting his head. Slowly, he moved the firelight on the tip of their tail closer to the ball.
"Leyline, no!"
Abandoning their post, Gate Guardian tackled Leyline with all the force of a solid stone statue. They tussled for a while longer, the mysterious ball forgotten. It lay there motionless, its painted smiley face staring out at the world.
One eye of the smiley face winked.
