This was not heavily spell checked, so don’t anticipate any corrections to me made unless I notice them. I just wanted to get all of this nonsense out there ~

Ruby Cantor, a spinxyn adopted and raised by a centicorn couple as a selfish political act at the time. They mainly took her in due to other friends doing the same, and figured it would benefit them to take up the challenge of raising a spinx. Ruby was somewhat spoiled, but she didn’t know how to take it. For a short period she had nothing, yet now she has almost anything she could have ever dreamed of, for the most part. Her parents were often icy to her, due to their expectations being way too high. They expected only the best from her after the “kindness” they had shown her. From good grades to being a stand up citizen. Ruby was extremely shy and a bit of a shut in as a spitten because of this. Thr fear of embarrassing her parents took up most of her thoughts, so these goals tended to stress her out. It often lead to her being more of a fearful doormat who lacked the drive to stand up for herself.

By chance, she’d begrudgingly meet a rude cat by the name of Bianca. Their parents insisted they hang out, and to say they had a rocky start would be about right. Ruby was extremely intimidated by Bianca, for she saw her as everything her own parents wanted of her. So Ruby would often make snide remarks under her breath whenever they’d have Bianca’s family over for whatever reasons. But it was Bianca who helped the struggling Ruby stand up for herself. Whenever school started, they would sometimes stick together because Ruby feared her fellow centicorn students. Mainly due to her being an easy target and the concept of being cursed was planted in her mind by her mother as a tactic to scare her into doing better. But her time spent with Bianca was everything to her, for she was the only cat she could be honest with.

Eventually Ruby would learn a very important skill, the art of faking it until you make it. She would pretend around her parents that she was trying to live up to them, despite her struggling too. She would more or less have them fooled. This lead to her father giving her a centicorn gift when she was around 11. This was a major confidence booster for her. Her horn would be everything to her, and would give her the drive to actually live up to her parents’ expectations of her. But this would also have the nasty side effect of making her more arrogant and full of herself. She would show it off all the time and it would give her a reason to not fear her fellow students. Unfortunately this lead to her having a minor falling out with Bianca, as she realized it made her friend uneasy whenever Ruby would bring it up.

The beginning of the end for her would be during Bianca’s 13th birthday celebration when she turned down her own mother’s gift in front of everyone. After that night, they didn’t talk very much, due to Ruby’s parents forbidding her too. Fearing that Bianca’s bad influence would affect their daughter. But the night after when Bianca went missing, and later found her bag in the river, was the worst night of her life. Her best, and only friend as assumed dead. With only her brother being anything close to an acquaintance.

This lead to Ruby being more distant, and struggling a lot more with her feelings. Her confidence was gone, and she lost the one cat who was important to her. Her parents dismissed their daughter’s clear need for help, and played it off as nonsense. They claimed that Bianca isn’t worth all the tears, and that she was a bad influence on their perfect angel. Often they would make snide remarks about Bianca around Ruby to show her how unless her feelings were.

The one thing she had to remember her friend, as a gift from Bianca’s brother. A pink bow made of silk that belonged to Bianca. Ries owned a matching one, but seeing his sister’s would fill him wirh sorrow. Ruby cherished it in secret, knowing that it would set off her parents. Her anger and sadness would eventually get the better of her one night when her parents would catch her with it. They accused her of stealing it and bashed her verbally for her nonsense. Ruby would finally snap and let everything that Bianca ever taught her about standing up for herself, rip.

After a few minor of heated anger from Ruby, she would smash a vase in her room. Without hesitation, her parents would curse her. They claimed it was in self defense, and to get her to calm down. Ruby was heartbroken. Her own parents had cursed her, and what was worse is that they blamed her for making them do that. She would beg them to take it bag, but they refused. Insisting that she needed to learn her lesson.

After this, Ruby became silent. For a dark cloud of shame would hover over her whenever she went. Despite her curse being one that made her mane shine, and giving her a tail with radiant feathers and shining scales, a curse was still a curse. Her parents would keep her locked away, for they were ashamed of her. Ruby would often avoid them, fearing they would take her only pride away. (That being her horn) or making her course worse. She would rarely speak up or argue, and kept to herself.

Strangely enough, her father would get mysteriously sick and pass away a week later. Ruby was left a portion of her father’s fortune. Ruby decided she needed to leave home. Her mother would ask her to stay, for Ruby was all she had. But Ruby would refuse, in favor of a life that seemed more suited towards her. She would miss her mother, but she knew her mother would be ok with her out of the picture. She was well aware of her mother seeing someone else on the side, so even her own mom wasn’t free from corruption.

She would venture to Catalis. Once she entered that huge city, everything seemed to snap into place for her. She would make a name for herself, and being around her own kind who wouldn’t shun her for her curse would be a breath of fresh air. She got into modeling quite a bit, and would even write a few books on the side for even more cash. She was becoming someone she could be proud of.

One way or another, she’d come across a familiar face when Ruby would look into activist groups regarding cursed cats. By pure luck alone, she’d find Bianca again, now known and Brie. Despite the awkwardness of their reunion, the two managed to find their footing again. Ruby would offer to donate generous sums of cash to the group secretly to keep the group afloat. Brie was hesitant to trust her, but Ruby would return the bow to Brie that she had kept from Ries, as a promise to keep her mouth shut. Ruby doesn’t care about much, but having her one friend back is the only drive she needs to keep living the life she wants. Free from her past, and looking forward to the future.
