Chapter 1

The story of my night elves. All set in the warcraft universe! I try to make my prose as understandable to non-wow players as I can<3 The story starts off with alot of focus on Pewarathea, however later we do get to explore the other characters more. Expect character jumps. Each chapter is about 5k-10k words. I upload infrequently and write chapters at a time, so please excuse the lack of updates.

Also a note to my way of interpreting the language of Darnassian. Because the language is not actually developed, I simply use the tengwar alphabet transcription. Therefore if you try to read it, it'll read as English anyway. There is no other way to pronounce those words, it is just to show when a character is speaking darnassian. There'll always be a transcription next to it or underneath it <3

Cataclysm [Chapter 1]

Pewarathea walked through the town of Auberdine, greeted by a few of the locals. The harsh wind wept her dark blue and long hair from side to side. It was winter yet it certainly seemed unusual for such a strong wind to be present in Darkshore. Her long elven ears were tinged with red from the rash of cold. As she continued to walk through the town, multiple conversations passed through to her ear
"Dear, the height of the waves today is certainly worrying." She's heard that just a few times today already, as she passed by a group of idle fishermen, one grabbed her by the arm and asked
"Pewarathea, dear tenth Moonwing and good druid, do you happen to know what's happening, it's been far too dangerous for any of us to leave for fish out in the sea, this never happens." She shook her head
"I'm afraid not, I am currently investigating this, however so far I've not had any luck, I'm sorry. And please, drop the formalities, just call me Pew." The fisherman lowered his head
"Of course, do take care." Pew nodded and with a faint smile departed. The fisherman sat back down with his colleagues and one of them commented
"That's a tenth for you, willing to help her town out of sheer kindness." To which another added
"Just like Tringathen." Another partially disagreed
"Pew's grandfather was a tenth too, but Pew radiates with such purity! Soon she'll outdo him, Tringathen was a fierce but local defender, the girl knows that the threat has to be taken out before it spreads. She aims higher, I mean she's already with the Defenders of Azeroth!" The former scoffed
"Defenders of Azeroth, pff! With such skill, I think the Moonwing should be involved in war more!" A nearby human guard got involved in the conversation, jokingly mocking them
"Well lads, I think maybe you lot should be joining the war efforts. The Hordes are certainly not swimming in the water, waiting to be caught!" All of them laughed loud, which made Pew glance one final time at the group before entering the forest. It made Pew somewhat happy to be admired by the simple folk, yet still, It seems to worry her, all that responsibility that's dropping on her, being practically the image of the house, everyone looking up to her and her choices. Who to fight for, who to fight alongside. She shook off her thoughts, it's certainly not helping her focus on the investigation.

She sat on a tree stump, the thin layer of snow not a bother to her. She breathed easy, placed her palms on the stump and channelled a little bit of her magic. The energies from the earth had not held any response that may be of any use to her. She wiped her face with her hand in disappointment. She couldn't do much with her magic during winter, so she headed to the shore. Kneeled at the water, held one of her hands in the ice cold sea, the magic weaving through water. The sea was disturbed, that she already knew. With no answers on why, she stood up. Lastly, she magically requested a wild bird to her, a magpie perched on her shoulder, she listened to what it had to say. Although still no real answers, the avian had felt natural fear. She gave a piece of bread to the bird and a comforting pet before dismissing it. That stirred Pew, but still much more confused. Unfortunately, there wasn't much she could do. Pew decided to head home and eat something, perhaps that'll help her thinking.

She came to the empty house and grabbed a snack. Everyone was away. her parents away in Darnassus for the Winter market. Her brother Davi, been gone for a good 15 years if not more, busy in his mage studies within Dalaran. It bothered her staying inside on her own. So she took her food and left. Pew wandered to the docks, sat and overlooked the sea and all the stationed boats. She certainly wasn't feeling quite like herself, an emptiness eating away at her while she enjoyed her own food. This weird situation too, it made her more uneasy.

Waves were gradually getting larger, and soon, the ground shook. Whatever it was that Pew was investigating, has come. She stood up with swiftness and ran into town, calling for all to seek the safest place they know. Honestly, she didn't know what really was gonna happen, but if it was an earthquake, it's better safe than sorry. And Pew wasn't entirely wrong on expecting an earthquake, however, she underestimated its severity. The ground began to crack, raising and falling in different spots. Some houses falling to their sides. Pew went out to help those she saw in danger. The snow gradually began to melt, it was getting warmer. Panic reigned in Auberdine. She dashed into a crumbling house, where a younger elf was struggling to get out of the debris. She shoved it to one side and told the elf to find a safe place. Pew began running out too, but the ground shook her to the side of a broken wooden plank which slashed her right upper arm. She ignored the pain and continued on helping. She was successful, running from place to place, helping all that crossed her. Upon leaving the top floor of another house, an immensely violent rumble made her fall to the bottom along with different parts of the house, hard-hitting the floor.  Getting up now was an immense pain across her body, yet she endured and dragged herself out only to tumble on the grass outside. Her clothing was torn and her arm which itched, turned out to be stained with blood. Her selfless efforts helped others but had no care for herself, a foolish move of Pew but it's just who she is. She laid on the grass with little power in her muscles and wincing in pain. It just got to her, her wound bled severely and she couldn't treat it. Her sight began to get slightly blurry. An elven figure rushed to her, the closer it got, the more Pewarathea could identify it, it was particularly distinguishable by the white fluffy hair
"Davi?" She couldn't hear herself and felt like she was fading out more with each lengthy second. Tears falling down her lilac cheeks, she continued "We must help them!" Davi held her in his arms, a worried and pained expression crossed him as he apologised
"Pew, I'm sorry, we cannot." to this, she attempted to squirm yet instead she was taken by more pain. Davi was hastily chanting a spell and before finishing it off, he apologised once more
"We can't stay here any longer, I'm really sorry..." Pew's back and hips were emitting intense pain, she was not comfortable, and couldn't hear her brother anymore, she glanced ahead and saw a black figure leaving only flames behind him. She didn't understand anything and the last thing she felt was the warp of magic before losing her consciousness.

Davi had gotten the two of them to the floating city of Dalaran. A higher authority was calling out loud while ringing a waking bell, it was a dire situation
"All skilled with the magic of healing or first aid. Instantly report to the clinic!" Davi carrying his sister right to the clinic in a hurried manner shouted at those in front of him
"Please make way! She's in a miserable state, please!" The crowds let him through and he went in, the nurses showing him the way to a spare bed and a professional right behind Davi. He laid his sister down carefully, his arms shaking. The medic that was with Davi asked of him
"Davi can you conjure up some water while I get the supplies." He nodded, faced the floating bowl and out of his hands, water poured into the bowl. He then took off his bloodstained clothing and put round himself a large cloth to cover up. Davi asked of the baby-blue haired medic
"Deni, is there any other way I could help?" Without hesitation the elven medic replied
"If you could remove her outer garment..." Davi quickly moved on to that as Deni cast a small magic square above Pewarathea. Davi identified the object and moved back for a few seconds as the square scanned through Pew's body. Once he took off Pew's torn jacket off, he went up to Deni again who asked of him
"If you could warm up the whole clinic from that point there, and come back in a few minutes while I help her." He nodded in reply once more
"Of course." Davi had no hesitation helping since most nurses and medics here weren't paid all that much money unless employed directly. This was a crisis, Davi didn't have much money either, he did what he could. He walked up to a heating point and channelled fire magic into it, making the chill atmosphere warmer. Dalaran is located in Northrend after all, it's a proper winter in here, and warmth is very important in such a place. Davi then left the clinic for a breath, and to calm himself down. He looked about the streets, it was chaotic everywhere in Azeroth. All for one same reason, one same person- or rather one same dragon- Deathwing. Davi was beyond glad that Northrend was unaffected. He just wished his sister was in better circumstances. Suddenly he felt a chill getting to him, his mind and hands were so shaky, his magic lost focus and his heat shield had died. Which also made him realize that he wasn't wearing a top, only a thin fabric covering his back and chest. He grabbed a spare linen top from his bag and put it over, then tucked the cloth into his bag before redoing his heat shield.

"I'd best get back." He sighed to himself, hoping that his sister isn't injured severely. He went inside the clinic, Davi found Deni stitching up Pew's wound. It was gruesome to look at, but it didn't seem like Pew was at all stirred from her consciousness. He sat on the stool opposite of Deni and glanced at him. Much concentrating on stitching, he spoke in a low tone
"It's not looking the best..." Davi continued looking to him, "The scan showed me that she fractured her pelvis. How? I've not a clue but I am glad it didn't worsen. Have a look at the scan, I've pinpointed the fracture." Davi took a projection into his hands, there was a faint circle on the pelvis. The fracture was hard to spot, Davi asked
"How is that going to affect her?" Deni now getting out a bandage from his bag replied
"I can only assume, however she likely won't be walking for the few days with luck. Later it'll just be pained walking then running for a few months" Davi's breathing was shaky, he was lost in thought, yet at the same time, it was somewhat fascinating that such a small fracture can have an impact like this. While Deni was wrapping Pewarathea's arm, Davi took her left hand into his own, caressing it. His thoughts full of undefined feelings
How long have I not seen her? I've completely lost all sense of time but I've missed her so much. Deni interrupted his pondering
"Davi, what was she doing, it doesn't look like just damage from the havoc." He replied with little that he knew but was sure of
"She...- she was trying to help everyone, every person in Auberdine. She was being herself, being selfless. It's a curse which others call a blessing." Davi scoffed and continued
"I'm guessing you don't know much of the Moonwing family, but there's a 'thing' that runs in our family, every tenth child is born blessed by Mother Moon. Pew's one of them, but it's not just a blessing. It makes them have a particular kind of personality which reflect the very first Moonwing. Selflessness is one of them along with a whole bunch of other characteristics. The whole thing is complex but a tenth cannot just change the way they behave or stop themselves from doing some actions." he closed his eyes for a long second before continuing
"And look what it's doing to her... Yet the most interesting part about all this, is that despite their similar characteristics, all tenths were unique." Deni seemed somewhat interested and asked while working
"But why are they blessed, where did this originate from?" Davi lightly shrugs
"No one really knew and still today we know nothing. It's like asking where the very first Moonwing came from, Nyctael, a child of no known parents. But we know that it started with him, most skilled man we ever heard of. A druid of his own kind, warrior, archer, so many things he was. I've always been intrigued by him, died in the arms of his loved one from a stab wound dealt by Trolls. It's ironic I suppose but ugh, I've had to study through all this and more for an annoying chunk of my life." Deni handed Davi a piece of cotton cloth and a bowl of water he conjured earlier mixed with some herbs
"If you could help clear the blood- so since you come from a big family such as this, with a rich history, what are you really doing in Dalaran, living on your own." Davi carefully wiped the blood from Pew's round face and replied quietly
"It's too complex a story, I don't want to talk about it, but I guess you can say I simply admire magic so much." Deni got up and before turning commented
"I suppose that's a fair answer, I won't press further." he turned around and ordered a nurse for help, she nodded, left but came back after a while. Deni continued
"I've done what I can, the nurse will change Pew and care for her till she wakes. Until then I must tend to others." Davi looked up to him and replied
"Thank you, Deni, really." He faintly smiled
"That's what I'm here for" before moving on elsewhere.

Davi left the nurse to tend to his sister. He looked about the clinic, there were a whole lot more injured people inside than when he got here. As much as he wanted to stay with his sister, he had to check up on other parts of the family, starting with his parents. It was safe to assume they were in their small house in Darnassus, Perah, Davi's mother always visits the Winter Market. He cast a teleportation spell and within seconds he was in Darnassus, the capital of Night Elves. Luckily for everyone, Teldrassil was unaffected, the great tree still stands. Yet there is a sense of panic within the city, elves from Darkshore most likely, were taken to care in the capital. Davi hurried to the house and knocked. His mother answered the door, her cheeks red and stained with tears. Perah has identically white hair to his son, there was, in fact, a lot of similarity between the two of them. Perah without hesitation embraced Davi lovingly
"Oh thank Elune you're alright! I've missed you love." Shamelessly he wrapped his own arms around his mother and replied
"Me too..." She let go of him and let him inside. As he entered she asked with high hopes
"Do you know anything of Pewarathea?" He smiled faintly as he leant against the wall
"She's hurt, but she's safe in Dalaran..." however Davi stopped short, Perah peered at him and without asking any questions he continued "If not for me, she would've gotten herself killed mum. The state I found her in, broke my heart, but even then, she would've gone on to help the others, she's so stupidly altruistic!" Davi teared up and covered his eyes with his palm, he really needed to vent. Perah comforted him with a caress to his arm as Davi continued
"I just don't want anything to happen to her of her. Especially when I can't be there for her." She cupped his cheek
"You've done that much for her, I think for now, she'll stay with you. Our house is rubble, she'll get to spend more time with you. Besides you haven't changed at all, always the overprotective big brother that you were to her." He sighed
"Yeah, haven't changed at all, just became more distant. Anyhow, where's father?"
"He's rescuing whoever's left in Darkshore. I stayed here too worried for you and your sister, I'm glad you came." Perah embraced him once more and continued "However you need to stop avoiding Jawon-" Davi scoffed
"I feel like everytime he sees me, he's closer to disowning me. It's in my best interest not to make that worse." She sighed
"I know he's tough on you dear but I think it's getting better."
"Yeah okay, but I'm not here to sulk about mum, I was wondering if you've any clothes of Pew or her size." Perah nodded and left the room, within a few minutes she came back with a medium sized bag, packed of Pewarathea's clothes. Perah added
"Her older travel and casual clothes she left here some time back." She handed it to Davi and smiled
"Watch out for her, and take care of yourself, dear." He smiled faintly as he began casting
"You take care too." and just like that, he was back in Dalaran. He felt better having spoken what was on his mind, but also seeing his mother is always comforting. He'd check with the rest of the family, however, most of them live in the safe part of Kalimdor, generally Winterspring or Ashenvale.

He headed into the clinic, Pew still unconscious, he put the clothes in a small cupboard by her bed. Davi really wanted to stay here with Pew till she woke up, but he needed the rest, his last few days were particularly draining, with today to top off, it was overwhelming for him. He left his sister be under the care of authorities. A quick swipe of his hand and he was teleported back to his flat in Dalaran. He could've travelled the distance by foot, but Davi preferred pushing his magical strength over his physical strength. Countless years of casting spells have already shaped some muscle on him especially from straining spells, his health wasn't a bother ever, certainly won't be after skipping a few minutes of stair climbing. Cold brushed against his skin as he was back in his own home, it's not been heated for a week at least, which made Davi realize how actually busy the last days were. He cast a quick spell with his hand which released a flame at the spot which he pointed to, it was a fireplace. Supported by magic, the place quickly warmed up to a cosy standard. He took off his top and trousers and threw them on the couch. He then simply threw himself at the bed and quickly sleep took him over.

A few hours have gone by, the sun was close to setting on Azeroth. Pew slowly opened her eyes just to find herself in a clinic. She felt miserable and couldn't move without inflicting pain to herself. Her senses slowly coming back to her, she looked to her arm, it was tended to by another elf. His hair short and light blue, face rich of freckles with a mark of a moon under his left eye. Like most nurses, he wore a plain linen tabard. Pew groaned to the pain originating from her arm, she wanted to move it away but Deni reassured her
"It's alright, calm down. I'm only changing your bandage, I've had to stitch it up earlier." Pew laid powerless and asked
"Why does everything hurt if you're just tending to my arm?" Deni explained with care
"That would be your fractured pelvis." Pewarathea looked about the clinic, the room filled with injured people from both fractions. She asked once more
"W-what happened?" Deni grimaced as he finished changing the bandage
"Deathwing returned, destroyed many areas of Azeroth in the process..." Pew put her left and most mobile hand to her lips, she faintly trembled
"You mean... Auberdine is destroyed?" He nodded as he sat down by her
"I'm afraid it is." Pew hid her grief with her palm, trying to hold back herself, she breathed heavily. It took her a while to get herself together. She moved on, not wanting to talk of such at the moment, she questioned the elf
"So then, who are you?" He politely replied
"I'm Deni, just a mage volunteer for this clinic. I'm to take care of you for the week and if need be more." Pew then too introduced herself
"I'm Pewarathea of house Moonwing, yet I'll spare you the titles I'm apparently entitled to, and please call me Pew- Can you please enlighten me, tell me, where are we right now?" With a faint hint of surprise he replied
"Dalaran of course." Pew wasn't exactly sure how she ended up in the city of mages all the way in Northrend but didn't question it. Deni put the back of her hand against her temple to check for her temperature, an all too familiar feeling flowed through his hand. Pewarathea couldn't exactly tell what it was even though she knew it so well, but perhaps she was simply tapping into his magic. Deni smiled faintly at her indicating that a temperature was not one of her problems at the moment.
"You're getting better, I hate to leave you however my other duties call, I'll get Davi to take care of you for the while I'm gone. It's best if you rest for now." Pew quickly replied before he left
"D-Deni, thank you." He looked back to her
"I'm just doing what's right" and left the clinic. Pew began to gather her thoughts, the mention of Davi would explain why she's in Dalaran out of all places, but she's still not entirely sure what happened yet.

It wasn't long before Davi arrived. Although he still had bed hair, he certainly did look lively. He came in and greeted his sister by hugging her
"Oh Pew, I am so glad you're okay!" Pew radiated with pain and discomfort and nudged him off of herself.
"That hurts you actual imbecile!" He let her go and chuckled
"Oh right, so no thank you, my wonderful brother, for rescuing me?" So suddenly it all came back to Pew, she looked at him grimly
"Do you realize how many lives we could've saved?" Davi sighed
"I don't think you have realized yet that you nearly got yourself killed. And I know exactly how kind everyone was to us in Auberdine, but this is too much Pew." She wanted to say something but Davi didn't let her because he knew exactly what to do to get his point across "If I hadn't gotten you from there Pew..." He started shaking again, his sister was dearest to him, there wasn't anyone else Davi could look to. "You'd either be burning to your death, drowning in the Veiled Sea, and dear Elune don't make me list all the things. Pew, I just want you to see, and stop throwing away your life like that." She grabbed his hand and this time tugged him closer and apologised
"Davi... I'm sorry, you don't deserve this." Pew felt bad, generally because she forgot how dependent her brother is on her, even if he isn't always there. But it also came as a realization to her, that it's not just Davi, it's her entire family that cares for her too. She continued "I'm always so stubborn, aren't I?" Davi chuckled
"Did that really take you over 100 years to figure out?" Pew too chuckled
"Oh shut up you."

Davi paused for a short while and explained
"I suppose you wanna know what's happening in the world, well Deathwing destroyed a lot of places; Darkshore, Barrens, Booty Bay, Loch Modan Dam has crumbled, Thousand Needels is flooded along with a large chunk of Tanaris, I've heard Deathwing landed at Stormwind and wrecked the entire park. Umm, hmm what else... Ah, Ragnaros has been summoned to Mount Hyjal. It's not looking the best, and I've been given the duty of seeing to each of these places and note down the changes and well being of populations, ah, my skills as a mage are being used in such fascinating ways." Pew asked further
"What of our family?" Davi replied simply
"I've seen mum while dad was away on duty, they're okay and you know the rest lives in other parts of Kalimdor, everyone's doing alright." She sighed and slowly got overwhelmed by emotions, tears slowly went down her cheeks before she could ask another question
"Davi... What- what's gonna happen now?" Davi sat at the side of her bed and wiped Pew's tears from her cheeks with care
"Don't cry now, it's gonna be alright, you'll move in here, with me in Dalaran. It's still early Pewie, you need to rest. I imagine you're still under shock." She strained a faint smile
"That sounds okay, I've missed you." He caresses her cheek and replied
"Yeah, me too." Davi then leant on his side and continued "Anything else you wanna know before I go?" Pewarathea nodded
"I guess yeah, what can you tell me about that medic of mine? He seems to know you."
"Oh Deni, he's a colleague. Deni's got a higher rank than me, despite the fact he just struggles with Arcane magic, however, I've seen him in the company of Rhonin so who knows? He travels in and out of Dalaran frequently but I take no interest in his duties or leisure. Honestly, I don't know him all that well, it's just common knowledge I have about most mages here." To that Pew added
"Deni told me he'll be taking care of me for the week..."
"Just a week huh? Well, I'd guess you will get along with him, pretty tolerable guy. But if you need anything just tell me." Davi checked the clock and got up "My shift's starting soon, I'll see you in the morning if you're still awake by then, for now, take some rest, the sun's not set yet." He kissed his sister's head and waved farewell before leaving. To Pew's surprise, sleep came easy regardless of the fact that she's been laying for an entire day.

In the very late night, Pew woke up more energised. She surveyed the clinic, which in fact now was more like a small hospital. Most patients were sleeping, considering the fact that most of them weren't nocturnal like Pewarathea. Although it was common for her to swap to being diurnal for duty, she still favours the night. The lights were harshly dimmed, where patients were treated, magic shined light just where it needed to in order to not disturb others. Pew wasn't bothered, the dark was mildly comforting and calming to her. Rather than checking her surroundings, she decided to examine herself. Turns out that there were many small cuts which now dried, Pewarathea couldn't quite figure out at what point she gained them. Her gaze now turned to the bedside table on her left, a book laid on it, titled 'Is Neltharion really gone?'. With much pain in her side and effort from Pew, she retrieved it. On the front cover, a note read

"Hopefully this can keep you entertained, do some research. I love hearing your theories. c50c5f496d1458cb3f025b33b27d8e2e.png
 - Davi "

(Translation: You're welcome")

Next to his signature, Davi drew a heart, Pew thought it was cute of him to do so. She then chuckled at Davi's poor Darnassian. Despite the language becoming rarer in the elven culture, most elves know it by heart, Davi's long separation from the elven lands made him forget almost all of it. She used the note as a bookmark and tucked it into the first page before being interrupted by a familiar voice
"Ah, sorry I'm late, glad to see you awake and well." Pew put the book to the side and greeted Deni in Darnassian with a faint smile
e8ed49c2a22725b50b3b5e4db785b27a.png", you're not late I just woke up." (Translation: Alah darnana dor, a greeting in Darnassian) He blankly blinked for a few seconds and apologised with a chuckle"I'm afraid I don't speak Darnassian Pew." She shook her head
"Ah, I feel like with time I'll be only able to speak in Darnassian with myself." Deni chuckled once more and asked
"So how do you fare now?" Pew replied truthfully as Deni sat on a chair next to her
"Honestly I feel as if every nerve in my body is dying five times over each time I move, so I try not to move despite the fact I'm uncomfortable laying in one position." Deni explained
"Sounds about right, a pelvis fraction isn't gonna let you off lightly, hopefully in a few nights, you'll be able to turn yourself over easier. Eventually get to walking, but for now, try not to put too much strain on it." Pew nodded as Deni continued "Right, now I need to change your bandage and we'll be good to go." With care, he took Pewarathea's arm and began unwrapping the bandage, eventually revealing a horrible stitched wound, about a hand's length. Pew quietly gasped and winced
"Oh I had not thought that was so bad, I really should've been more careful." While dipping a cloth in water mixed with various herbs which smelt exotic, Deni commented
"It's going to leave a permanent scar, that's for sure, in two weeks you'll have to come and get those stitches out too." With the damp cloth, he gently dabbed the wound which made Pew groan quietly. Deni continued "Also, don't get any ideas. Healing this will make your state worse, your magic is completely drained, even if you don't feel magically exhausted. You can hurt yourself if you attempt to throw even the simplest spell." Pew felt stupid for not thinking of healing herself but at the same time, somewhat lucky that she didn't worsen her current state. As Deni grabbed a new bandage, Pew asked
"Wait, how'd you know I'm capable of casting restorative magic?" Deni kept his answer short and sweet
"Well, Davi talks a lot about you." Pewarathea's cheeks turned a little red and she scoffed
"He can't keep his mouth shut, can he?" Deni laughed while wrapping the last of the bandage. He then asked
"Do you feel like eating?" Pew nodded as Deni got up. "I'll get you something nourishing, hopefully, you aren't too picky, I can't argue with Dalaran's kitchen on busy days. What about a drink?" She denied with a faint chuckle then replied
"Oh I'm not picky, not at all, I enjoy almost everything. Tea with some sugar will do just fine, thank you." He nodded and left the clinic. Pew pondered and looked about the place, some had broken limbs, others lost them entirely. The return of Deathwing was an awful experience to everyone, Pew really did get off lightly yet she wished to go out and help those who need it.

It wasn't long before Deni came back, he carried two plates. The first had 2 simple tuna sandwiches, the second was a meal of mashed potatoes and pork with gravy. Just behind him, a jug of tea and empty cups floated while following him. A bed tray had floated up to Pewarathea as well, she wasn't used to magic as such which surprised her. Whilst Deni acted all too casual about it. He set the second plate by Pewarathea and the first he set upon the bedside table. He pulled Pew's backrest up to a close to sitting position, while the tea poured itself into cups. He smiled and handed her cutlery
"Do enjoy." She too smiled
"Thank you." The two began eating their own food, after a few minutes Pew commented
"This is good." Deni chuckled
"Glad you think that but personally, I think that's an overstatement... They make good common-folk food, but I much prefer exotic cuisines. I love a good grilled fish from Sholazar Basin with autumnal herbs."  Pewarathea asked
"You seem to know a good chunk about cooking..." He nodded
"I used to be a cook's assistant, it's that and herbalism... So what do you do?" She replied
"Well, I design and make leather armour and outfits, and recently I'm one of the Defenders." Deni asked with curiosity
"You're with the Defenders? How come I've never seen you in Dalaran then?" Pew was slightly hesitant with answering that question but she did in the end
"Well at first I was sent on missions directly by the Archdruids. Yet there were times I could've come, but I-I -how to put it? I was avoiding Davi in a fear of him stopping me from going anywhere. He's just overprotective, yet I see his reasoning now I guess. I wish I did chose to come here, it seems nice." Deni leant back and commented
"Well, I'd say it's best not to dwell on the past, always look forward." Pew took some time to think while eating.

A human came in, dressed in an elegant robe with accents of reds and gold and stated to Deni
"Rubellite, do you mind?" Based on his outfit, Pew couldn't recognise him from any kingdom or organisation. Deni got up and apologised
"If you excuse me..." Pew was interested in what that person had called her nurse by, yet didn't pay it too much mind. Deni left with the visitor to a quieter spot and scolded
"How many times must I remind you not to call me Rubellite?" He replied plainly
"It's either that or your true name. I'm not going to call you by that bizarre shortcut." Deni sighed
"Fine, have it your way. What's happening then?"
"It's not fighting, the queen requests your presence." He looked at the human in a slight confusion
"Presence, what for if not fighting?" In return, he chuckled
"Presence is what I was told to say, but really she wants to talk to you. Probably future fighting, you'll find out when you get there.." Deni sighed
"Give me a little while and I'll be on my way." The human nodded and left. Deni came back to Pew and apologised once more
"I've to leave for an hour if not more, sorry. Can you manage on your own?" She nodded simply and asked
"I can manage. Except I feel a little like a nuisance to you." He smiled at her and denied
"Not in the slightest, helping out is entirely my choice. Besides I enjoy spending time in such interesting company." With that note, he left. Pew was left alone once more, with nothing better to do anymore, she took her book and began reading.

It took Deni actually longer than he thought, by the time he got back, the sun was close to rising. Pewarathea was sleeping on her side. He felt bad but then another nurse assured him that Pew didn't need anything during his time away. Deni sat by her bed for an hour just to make sure she's alright before retiring back to his own living quarters.

The next day, Deni had another person to take care of along with Pewarathea. She felt unaffected by that, simply gave her more time to read her book, and when Deni did come over to her, she revised the facts from her book to him
"So if I'm getting this right, Neltharion was never really killed. Merely banished?" Deni added a bit of his own knowledge
"Deathwing is the biggest of the Aspects, with the power of Azeroth's elements it certainly makes him hard to just end. He was simply thought to be dead." Pew nodded in understanding and then asked
"The biggest? Have you seen him?" He nodded hesitantly
"Oh I have, closer than I'd ever want to. His wingspan is about 350meteres if not more, that was of course during the year 9 or something like that." Pew's eyes gleamed with an interest in his experience although he didn't seem too talkative on that topic, Pew decided to add an experience of her own
"I only met two aspects in my life, that'd be the Spell-Weaver and the Life-Binder. Same day actually-" Some surprise became evident from Deni and he assumed
"You contributed to the defeat of Malygos?!" Pew nodded
"Ah yes, it was when I had fully proved myself to the team. That was challenging I suppose, but then again every next thing is harder..." Deni chuckled as he was leaving
"Challenges for which you need to be well for!" Pew sighed with amusement and continued reading.

Her time passed fast, the night was near ending. Deni had no longer to tend to others so he sat by Pewarathea. She asked of him
"Could you unfold the dividers, please? I-it hurts having to look at all those unfortunate people..." Deni nodded and without any word he opened the dividers. He sat back down and then asked
"How are you feeling Pew?" She kept her reply simple
"Pretty good, I think..." Deni continued
"I think it'd be good to start getting your muscles exercised..."
"I think I can do that?" Deni chuckled
"Not without my help, trust me. Let's try standing up for a start." He helped Pew sit up, she was a little in pain however not enough to make her express it. She slightly leaned on him as Deni continued "Tell me if anything hurts or you're feeling weak, I don't want you to push yourself too much." She replied with a simple nod as he put his arm around her back to support her. Slowly they got up together, Pew's legs felt like noodles. She tightly held Deni's arm. Eventually, she stood up straight, she proudly looked at Deni who smiled at her. With time, Pew moved step by step until she suddenly was hit with a vertigo. She began to collapse but Deni held her, he rested her back on the bed and commented
"We'll have to do that again tomorrow, get muscles used to this again..." Pew shook her head before asking
"You mean this is normal?" He nodded
"Partially expected, you got to keep the blood flowing and the muscles moving. Also, put a little pressure on your pelvis and make sure it keeps regenerating." She asked once more
"How'd you know all this?" Deni chuckled
"Unlike many mages, I personally studied and researched medicine. Perfect excuse for being a poor caster..." Pew complimented him before asking
"That's impressive, but how come you're a poor magic caster?" He shrugged
"Making stuff float is basics, there are just parts harder than this that I struggle with." Pew nodded in understanding
"It's only fair, not everyone can do everything but don't you want to achieve a high rank or whatever?" Deni shook his head and explained
"I've got myself a high position already. I'm not aiming for Archmage, it puts too much of attention and responsibility on me. I get very uncomfortable around large amounts of people, I'm generally satisfied with what I have currently.."

Pewarathea lightly chuckled and asked once more
"So, what do you usually do in your spare time?"
"You ask too many questions, Pew." She laughed
"I'm just curious about you, I rarely get to meet nice people like you." He lightly blushed and got up to change the subject.
"I'm going to get us some dinner, want anything in particular? I'll answer your question once I come back." Pew shook her head
"I can eat almost anything." Deni laughed and insisted
"I already know that much, there must be something you want." Knowing she can't convince him otherwise, she replied
"Fine, could I get fried fish, any kind is fine. You choose the sides'." Satisfied with the compromise he nodded and headed to the kitchens of Dalaran.

Deni came back after a mere 15 minutes carrying a meal for himself and Pew. Pew sat up as he gave her the Cod along with fries. Deni's meal only differed in the type of fish and the way it was done, he preferred smoked Salmon.
He sat down and answered the question Pew asked him earlier
"You were asking, what do I usually do... I guess research of all sort is what I do a lot, sometimes I just go to a forest and sit there, write my notes, collect some herbs and maybe feed a deer." Pew smiled and asked
"That's interesting. Do you have any family then?" He replied plainly
"I'm a foundling, I never knew who my parents were." Pew frowned and quickly apologised
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked." Deni reassured her with a kind smile
"Don't be, I don't really have strong feelings about it." They ate in silence for a short while until Deni insisted
"My turn to ask questions." She smiled
"Go for it."  He asked with fair confidence
"What do you do as a druid?"  Pew chuckled at the expected question and replied
"In Moonglade, I usually help out the younger druids in their training or I help the elder druids and Archdruids. Outwith Moonglade, I heal the Defenders of Azeroth or care for wild animals." Deni slightly tilted his head with confusion and asked
"Why were you in Auberdine at such a time then?" Pew explained plainly
"I had wanted to take a break and focus a bit on myself for a while." He nodded, and they continued to eat. Once they finished they continued to talk until the morning came and Pew began to feel tired.
