“Tomorrow I need to send someone out to buy more flour.”

“Mm.” A thumb stroked their cheek.

“And I think Kotegiri Gou said he needs to buy more fabric for…some project he’s working on. He said he wasn’t discouraged by the tepid response, he’s going to be getting Inaba Gou on stage…or something to that effect.”

“Mm.” He tucked a strand of hair behind their ear.

“Someone who’s good at carrying things should probably go with him, then. Perhaps a yari…or one of the naginatas. I think Shizukagata Naginata wouldn’t mind being sent on an errand.”

“Mm.”

“You aren’t listening to me,” Aki realized.

Kogarasumaru smiled easily. “Of course not, my love. …That is to say, of course I’m listening to you.”

They pursed their lips. “What did I say just now, then? About who I’m sending to the store tomorrow?”

His brow tensed. “Shizukagata Naginata, and…” He trailed off.

“Ko-chan,” Aki whined. They hooked a leg over Kogarasumaru’s. “You can just tell me to shut up, you know.”

Kogarasumaru brushed the back of a finger across their cheek. “I like to hear your voice. It’s just that you’re quite distracting.”

Aki laughed. “Oh, am I? Enough that you tune the rest of me out?”

“That isn’t what I mean, my de—” The protest died in his throat as Aki used the leg hooked around him as leverage to press their hips towards his. They gave a small, triumphant smile, and quickly shifted to roll him on his back, while they fully straddled his hips. Kogarasumaru let out a small noise of surprise, but couldn’t manage to say anything else.

Aki hummed. “Well? Do I have your attention now?”
