“Bounty Hunters? Boss, I could handle those little pests easily.”

“I never said you couldn’t. However, if possible, I’d prefer if the blood so to speak wasn’t left on our own hands, Trigger.”

Cross put their drink down, the liquid inside shimmering with the fire their horn created.

Letting out a low growl, Tigger balanced his Sweetware against his shoulder, looking out the window, huffing with disapproval.

“Permission to Speak?”

“Trigger, we’ve talked about this; just speak your mind around me.”

After a pause, Trigger asked a question.

“Are they Sweeticals?”

A sweet smile appeared on Cross’s face.

“You’re the only Sweetical I care to employ, Trigger. So no, they aren’t Sweeticals.”

Trigger thought to himself, so just who was Cross hiring? He would know soon enough, but he’d be lying if he said it was annoying that Cross didn’t even consult with him. He had connections due to his own hunter career after all.

Cross’s voice broke through silence.

“You’re mad.”

“No.”

“Right. Well. Here’s their file should you want to read it.”

They handled a tablet to the large scissor wielding man before them, who took it just like they thought.

Trigger activated the screen, seeing two faces on the screen. He recognized them both immediately. The Æstrolos pair: Hildr and Ren Shun.

Dangerous but capable, these two had quite the list of accomplishments throughout the galaxy and had made a name for themselves. Mainly for their tact and ability to keep quiet about their jobs, and more importantly, their employers identities. Even if they were…. picky, about which job they picked.

He felt Cross’s eyes on him.

“Reading me again, Cross?”

The voice that replied had a hint of a laugh to it.

“No. I don’t need to. I know you well enough as is.”

Trigger huffed. The file claimed they had a few hours until their guests arrived.

“You know Trigger, if you’d like to join them, you can. I am more than capable to hold the fort down in the meantime.”

The Sweetical paused.

He’d be lying to say he wasn’t curious on what these two could do… not to mention he really wanted to destroy those annoying little pests that dared to try to tarnish the Gold Fang’s reputation.

Unsummoning his weapon, Trigger cracked his knuckles with a grin stretched across his face.

“I would love to accompany them on their mission. Thank you for this opportunity, Cross.”

Cross nodded before sending Trigger away.

“Go on then. I’ll fetch you when the two of them arrive.”

Trigger bowed his head in acceptance and headed to his living quarters within the bunker.

______________

He could hear clanging and the pitter pattering of paws even from outside the door.

What were those two doing now?

Opening the door, he was met with Limon-Blu on top of the fridge, swatting at the blue Sharkie, Kisa, that waited down below.

“Oi! What’s going on in here?”

With a raspy bark, Kisa ran over to his owner, demanding attention.

Meanwhile, Limon-Blu hissed at them both. “What cha mean by that!? Your little pet down there was trying to eat me!”

Trigger scratched at the scales behind Kisa’s gills and then gave him a bite of a sugary snack.

“Don’t be like that, Limon. He won’t eat you. Would you, Kisa??? Nooo! You’re a sweetest whittle thing~”

Limon-Blu stared at Trigger in disbelief.

“You gotta be kidding me. The relationship you have with that Shark thing is so weird.” He climbed down off the fridge walking over to the both of them before continuing to talk, “Alright, give me one of them pastries. They look good.”

Trigger obliged and handled the minical a strawberry tart.

While chewing down on it, Limon-Blu spoke.

“You’re here pretty early today though. I thought I’d have to hold off that little monster for at least a few more hours.”

“I’ll be leaving soon. Dealing with the group that dared to leave MY calling card at a job I DIDN'T do.”

“Oh ooph man. Good luck with that then. I’ll man the fort here. But uhhh take the glutton there with ya, yeah? I’m sure he’d be very useful. Somehow.”

“Hmmmm…. Let me think about that…? No. Kisa stays here, where it’s safe. But I’ll put him in his enclosure so you can relax.”

Limon-Blu let out a sigh of relief.

“Good! Gives me a chance to clean this mess up!”

‘A mess that YOU created.’ Thought Trigger with a smirk.

“Alrighty Kisa, let's get you to bed then yeah?”

The sharkie chomped on a treat and followed his owner to the room in which was reserved just for his own enclosure, filled with any and everything his little sharkie heart could want or need.

______________

As if on cue, Crimson’s face appeared on a display in Triggers kitchen.

“Limon-Blu, could you tell Trigger he’s needed by Cross?”

Limon-Blu gave a little laugh. “Ah, he get in some trouble, did he?”

“No.” Crimson replied flatly.

Trigger walked into the room, when Crimson saw him a small smile appeared on the redhead's face.

“Oi Crimi, is it time already then?”

“Yes. Their ship just landed. See you soon.”

After a nod from Trigger, Crimson disconnected causing the screen to turn black.

“Well Blu, time for me to head out. Take care of Kisa until I’m back, yeah?”

“Pfft like you even gotta ask. Yeah I’ll keep that weird shark thing content till yer back! Just uhhh keep some treats where I can actually reach them!”

With a laugh, Trigger left the room and headed back to the meeting room where Cross and the two Æstrolos would be waiting for him. He wondered how Cross would introduce him. Would he merely be an observer, or perhaps as a helping hand should they need it? Only time would tell.

______________

As he entered the room, Crimson stood in the place where he normally stood, tablet in hand; Cross sat in their chair, an amused expression on their face.

The two Æstrolos stood in the middle of the room with calm and rather open body language for walking into a room where anyone could be an enemy, although if they thought it was a trap, they’d be stupid to waltz in here. Though, a trap this was not.

This will be one fun afternoon.
