Why does their moon face change phases?

The moon this gob wears can change phases based on the emotions of them self and those around them. A true empath. When conflict is afoot their moon can become gibbous or even full. Hiding their face from all else.

When the creatures around them get along well, the moon becomes more of a crescent. Opening themself up to those around.

They never used to have a moon. At least, that's what they remember. No, back when the gob and gobess were on better terms this gob never had a moon, having it absent as the world was filled with love.

Despite being a major gob, this goobie is not immune to negative emotions. They have been around for many, many years and thus have felt many things.
For as long as they could remember, the gob and gobess have been on good terms. As of late, however, that feeling of love has all but vanished. Perhaps only a small piece remains.
It leaves this gob feeling quite unhappy... Empty... Lonely...
They can't begin to imagine what the gob and gobbess must be feeling. The thought makes their moon become full.
As a result, they had shut them self off to all others, only appearing now since the gobbess had made her appearance not long ago in hopes that the long broken relationship might be mended.
