They were on the couch, leaning into each other under the warm blanket, watching a movie they had seen a hundred times before.

“Can I kiss you, Simon?” Jay mumbled, fidgeting nervously with the hem of the blanket, eyes glued to the screen.

Simon turned towards him, delighted, “Of course, love! You know that you don’t have to ask every time, right?”

They turned their head towards Simon and nodded.

“So, why do you?”

He paused and thought before responding, “Well, because one day you might not want a kiss from me.” His eyes drifted from Simon’s.

“Oh, love. That day’ll never come,” He cupped Jay’s face with his hands, “Not unless you’re contagious.” She giggled before moving her face closer to Jay’s and kissing him, feeling him smile against her mouth.

After a moment, He broke the kiss before pulling Jay into a warm hug, fitting his head into the crook in their neck.
