Hushes whispers swirled in the cold air within the dark cavern, one belonging to a distressed female and the other a clearly upset male. A small muffled crying, one that obviously belonged to a newborn slowly merged with the swirling voices as they began growing in power with each word that escaped the lips of those within the dark space. Finally a single word snapped through the still hushed voices of the two, “Abomination.”

The female cooed with a gentle voice to the large male, “Damocles… Please he is our son. We cannot-“

The male whirled around snarling as the raw emotions pulsed through him, “We cannot what Milcah? Cleanse our bloodline of this stain?” as he spoke he unsheathed his claws as he reached toward a small figure, the quiet cries still emitting from it.

Milcah’s eyes remained emotionless and stern as she grabbed Damocles’s paw, preventing him from touching the cub, “He is our son… He is our blood. We cannot just kill him for being different. He bares our family marking, he is a Shoa.” Her voice rolled from her lips like thunder as she gently rubbed her paw over the lightly glowing marking on the small cub’s hip. Locking eyes with her mate Milcah tenderly reached for his own hip, allowing her small paw to graze the shared marking he had with the cub before turning and looking at her own.

Though her gentle words held strength behind them Damocles’s snarl never left his face, “Milcah… My darling look at him. He is a monster, he shouldn’t even be alive! I refuse to allow him to live on as a testament of what our family bloodline has become… Even if we allow him to live there is a good chance he will die eventually…” as he spoke Damocles gently lifted the small lump of fur by the scruff with his paw, his sharp claws penetrating the young cub’s fragile skin. A weak cry broke from its mouth as it struggled against its father’s painful grip, slowly raising its head to show the exposed fleshless skull it had. With a disgusted scoff Damocles tossed the new born cub like a ragdoll against the nearby wall.

“Aaro!” Milcah cried out as she sprang from where she laid toward her son who laid seemingly lifeless on the ground before her, a small blood splatter still on the wall from the cub’s impact.

Before she could reach the cub Damocles darted in front of her, gently embracing her as though he had just saved her from the defenseless cub, “It’s ok Milcah… You don’t have to watch.” he pushed her away somewhat roughly but held her so she had to look within his eyes, “You shouldn’t have named it though my darling.” He uttered the last words with a bone chilling calmness before throwing her aside with a loud thud. Shifting his gaze from his mate, Damocles eyes narrowed on the small lump that was writhing now in pain. Slowly he began to walk toward it, the look of bloodlust in his eyes shining through the darkness.

“Don’t kill him! Please I beg of you!” Milcah voice sailed through the air with such power it caused the large male to stop in his tracks, “Please… We can figure it out… Just allow me a week to nurse him so he may have some strength. After that he will be on his own and we will leave him out in the Unknown Lands. He will not be tied to the family and chances are high he won’t even be able to survive in general… Please Damocles, I cannot watch you kill our fist son.” A slow stream of tears began to grow as they ran down her face and dropped to the cold stone floor.

Almost annoyed the male glanced from Micah back to Aaro than back to Micah before letting out a sigh of defeat, “I will grant you five days with him, no more. Once he is sent out into the Unknown Lands though you are forbidden to seek him out or help him. It is survival of the fittest and interfering will just annoy me…” his words were cool and heartless but he begrudgingly walked over to the cub before recklessly dropping it with a small thud on the ground in front of Micah.

Nodding vigorously she accepted the terms her mate laid out for her son’s life, “Yes of course Damocles! Thank you for granting me five days with him… I will ensure he makes it to the unknown lands on the fifth day so you no longer have to see him. Thank you…”
