Dr. Dorun Foss
Dorun the half-orc, Marili’s friend, her best if you will, though how mutual that is is unclear. He noticed her as she enrolled into the courses to study and become a doctor herself. She was odd and didn’t seem to talk to anyone, keeping to herself. An oddity that he never saw before in town, though he’s sure he’d notice someone like her. He decided to stick to her since she always seemed alone and kinda pulled her into his friends group. An extrovert adopting an introvert, if you will. He knows far from everything about her, but since prodding makes her uncomfortable, he’s not asking further. Might be a tad concerned though?

“Mind if I sit here?” Marili was honestly quite startled as the half-orc addressed her. She nodded and scooted aside, making room. The simple wooden cafeteria bench groaned as he sat down. He was large and muscular, nothing like the other students, who by and large were skinny twigs struggling to carry their own books. Marili was just as skinny, ofcourse.
The lad could see her blatant stares and chuckled, offering a hand for a handshake. “The name’s Dorun, Dorun Foss.” She hardly had the time to raise her hand before he took it and shook it firmly, practically crushing it before softening his grip. “Damn, you really are squishy… What are you if I may ask?” Marili rubbed her squished hands as she stuttered an explanation. He did break a bone in there, but it would regrow soon enough, so she did not mind it much. He listened intently, clearly fascinated with her, a look she recognized all too well.
“So, you came here from the swamp then?” He concluded. She shook her head. “Was raised here, I don’t know my tribal kin. I’ve only read about them.” “Oh…” Dorun looked at her with a new expression now. Pity? No, a little more… He seemed genuinely sad. He forced a smile though. “Well, at least you found a new home, and that’s what matters. Do they treat you right?” She simply nodded.

After that, he made it a habit to sit down and eat lunch with her, making sure she never sat alone. In due time, his friends started to join as well. She was mostly quiet unless spoken to, but she didn’t mind. She was, quite literally, adopted by an extrovert. He took her along to the town a few times, but she didn’t seem to like crowded taverns so he didn’t pressure her to come along. He did, however, take her along to a farm for the first time in her life, the event leading to her love for fluffy sheep and them being her favorite animal. SHEEP!

He did eventually finish his education and go off into the world, it’s been a long while since they last saw each other. She misses him and wonders where he might be.

No, it is not romantic, they’re just best friends.
