“Ooh, look at the sweeties!” Flower cooed. She waggled her fingers at the speckled rabbit in front of her.

”Yeah, adorable.” Spectra mumbled. Personally, she wasn’t big on the cute and cuddlies, but it was Flower’s turn to pick a date night activity. Spectra didn’t care so long as the night ended with the activity that she wanted.

Flower pulled Spectra down the line. “I wish the academy allowed pets.” Flower said.

”I don’t. Dog shit on the front lawn, cat hair on the school chairs, bunnies dining in the cafeteria.”

”Well they wouldn’t be allowed out and about. But I’d love to come home to some fur babies.”

”Scaley ones, maybe.”

”Eww, no! Snakes creep me out.”

”Suit yourself.”

They stopped in front of a row of clear cages. There were seven tiny kittens inside. Flower melted immediately. “Aww babies! You’re so cute. Cutie lil fluffy bottoms. I love yous. I wish you could come home with me!”

Spectra rolled her eyes.

”Come on, I know being grumpy is your thing, but you really don’t think these babies are cute?”

”The all black one is okay. Fits into my spooky vibes.”

”Well I wouldn’t adopt that one.” Flower said quickly.

”What why?”

”It’s… y’know.”

”What?”

”Unlucky.” Flower said.

”Oh gimme a break. You really believe all that superstitious shit?”

”Maybe a little…”

”Wow.” Spectra laughed. “Do you avoid stepping on cracks too?”

”Yeah.”

”We don’t even have mothers, that’s so dumb.”

”If it makes me feel better, it’s not dumb.”

”Oh, I don’t agree with that. It’s just an excuse to live in a fantasy world or like… denial.”

”Believing black cats are unlucky is not living in a fantasy world. It’s harmless, really.”

”Sure if you don’t mind getting laughed at.”

”You’re the only one laughing at me.” Flower pointed out.

”I’m not, I’m simply trying to educate you. Besides, the only cute kitty you should be concerned about is me.”

”You?”

”Me.” Spectra smacked Flower’s leg with her lion tail.

”Ooh, I get it.”

”Now are you done gawking?” Spectra asked, already dragging Flower away. “Kitty wants to play.”

Flower hesitated, checking over her shoulder for any other patrons. ”Meow meow.” She whispered. Then she giggled and let Spectra drag her towards home.
