Hugo would nod while Lucy casually climbs up Hugo's pant leg up to his shoulder. "Don't sweat it. There was an emergency, right? That was more important."

"Mmm..." nods but still seems somewhat unconvinced
"... How are you adjusting to life here, though? It has been a few days since we returned from Paris-- were you here long before that??"

He shrugs. "Still getting used to living far from home." With basically a bunch of strangers- "But I'm adjusting." "I only got here a week before you guys came back, I think."

"Ah, understandable." A sagely nod, "it's pretty different, though maybe kinda like college dorms??" He tilts his head and looks up in contemplation, tapping his chin. "Where did you come from?"

“Yep. I’m honestly surprised there’s other people who can see what I see. I think I’ve met two other ‘spirit comms’ now.”

“Oh, sorry.” “Thanks for the heads up. I don’t really.. like to acknowledge ghosts, though.” He takes a long pause. “It’s a habit I learned.”

He nods “I was seeking attention in their eyes. I guess I can see where they’re coming from, though.”

Another sagely nod. "Mmhmm. Know that all too well. Had the same issue. I guess that's the problem with us spirit communication psychics... it's so much harder to prove we're not making shit up than like.... healers. Or energy manipulation psychics."

“There was a time I tagged along to my older brother’s sleepover with his friends and…” Hugo pauses, shifting a bit. “But yeah, stuff gets a little rough sometimes.”

“Maybe not from my abilities.” He has a quick flashback to Sevrin passive aggressively talking trash about his clothes and where he shops.

He shrugs. Fair enough. “So, I gotta ask.. If you’re ok with it. Are you and Jiemba or Syd-?”

It’s Hugo’s turn to blink. He’d assumed the boyfriend part, but he hadn’t assumed boyfriends. He nods anyways, though. “I think you’re the first person I ever met who’s actually in a poly relationship.” Unless he’s just casually admitted to cheating, which Hugo highly doubts.

‘I’ve only ever seen it in fanfics’ Hugo almost said, but shut his mouth quickly. Yeah, no. We’re not about to make this weird. Instead he opts for “So how’d that happen?”

Auran seems very animated now, bouncing on his legs and waving his arms around as he talks. "Well so-- David's been my roommate since we first got here, we became friends really fast-- And Jiemba lived right across the hall?? We've also been friends since we joined SC! So then when we went to Barcelona on a mission, well-- Jiemba and I got very drunk and we had a bit of aaaa...... huh, time, but we definitely got closer after that, and then a joke with David developed into not being a joke anymore, and we all were kinda together but also not really for a bit???" A pause to gasp for air before he continues rambling, "So THEN I kinda figured out like 'oh shit wait i like-LIKE both of them' and I told them and we all talked and then we started dating for real and we've been together since!!!" Hugo I am so sorry. He is out of breath by the time he shuts up.

Um-... Wow. Hugo blinks for a beat after some silence, having to absorb this all. He figured it'd be a story, but he didn't think Auran would fire off like that. "That's really neat, dude. Sounds like you guys really like each other." No duh, but just saying 'That's cool' feels wrong to say after the dude just shared a whole love story.
"You need a moment?" He comments, watching the poor guy try and catch his breath.
