Ruin remembered only pain, and rage, and hatred, after touching Leuc to try and help his...friend? Friend. What is a friend? What am I? Am I still just a tool? Was I? Why are my thoughts so much clearer now?

Why am I covered in blood? Most of it not mine. Did I do this to someome, or was I simply near the carnage? Who has their hand on my snout? With skin so strangely soft, and furless. Eyes brightest blue, full of resolve. Why was she so clear in front of me now, when the world was a hazy blur of bodies and wandering and red. So much red. Red screens. Red eyes, red laughter, red insanity.

How many days did we wander the street, pounding against the inside of our head? How long did we cry and scream and wail and claw at the chains that held us? when did I become we become us? We've always been here. I was just the one to bear all our burdens. To keep him safe. The little one deep inside. Why was he there?

Why was I blinded by the red light of the one who laughs.... this one does not understand. It was sent on a rampage, by orders that came not from my handler...or was it? Was it the Scorpion who willed me to go forth and cause destruction? Or was it another voice? Who was it? Everything is jumbled now. I need to leave, before the buzzing takes over and the chains clamp shut my muzzle.

She beckons me now, those blue eyes and a voice I've never heard.

"Ruin! Come on you great lump, we need to get beyond the city walls, before your mind is taken over again. Into the sewer entrance here, quickly!"

I do as I am told, and we run on all fours, paws beating against wet concrete as I head into the dim tunnels, following this strange phuzo, who has come to get me. Why? Is she with the company? Perhaps she is to be this ones new handler. I hear her mention a name, and it shatters the fog around my mind.

I bare my teeth and lunge, pinning her to a sewer wall, snarling defensively as she mentions the name of my charge.

"How do you know Declan's name? Speak fast or die faster."

"Woah Woah Woah! He sent me! He's outside in the desert, he asked me to come rescue you, I promise, I promise! I'm to take you to him, in Sanctuary!"

"There is no Sanctuary. Eyes always watching. Everywhere."

"You're mistaken, my large fucked up friend. There is a Sanctuary, and I can show you, far away from here to the south, where Iyzmiskas eyes can't reach you. Look, look, my wrist! "

I squint and release her from the wall, before sniffing at her arm, where a strange red scarf is tied. She unfurls it, and I drink deep the scent that comes off it. It's...unlike anything I've ever smelled, it isn't military, or from praque at all... perhaps there is some truth to her word.

I will follow, and see. If she deceives me, I will kill her.
