Appearance

Jude is, for the most part, a pretty normal seventeen year old boy at first glance. He has short blond hair, blue eyes, and an athletic build. He stands at 5'10" and wears the Starlight Academy uniform most of the time. The most obvious physical thing that differentiates Jude from a normal guy his age is his left side and left arm.

Jude's left arm is missing entirely from just below the elbow. The elbow itself seems to be entirely made of a silvery metal, but the farther you go up the upper arm, more flesh becomes visible in increasingly large portions. There are small patches of silver down Jude's left side to his hip, and up his neck to his jawline. The silver on his face is not immediately obvious on Manta Carlos, but would stand out in the narrow reality.

Personality

Jude was described more than once as a boy scout, and while he originally railed against it, he's come to accept that yes, he kind of is. Jude desperately looks up to authority figures in his life, eager to impress them and earn their affections. He's not far off from being a teacher's pet, really.

He's a fairly smart guy, and generally good at explaining concepts to others. That said, he gets frustrated when his explanations fall flat, and hates feeling like someone is wasting his time.

Jude is generally a loyal person to those he considers his friends, but his list of true friends is relatively small. He's used to holding people at arm's length, but is making an active effort to let more people in. He has an aversion to big secrets, having seen the consequences those can bring, and has a difficult time balancing relationships.

Most people would describe him as a kind and polite boy, but when crossed he tends to get scary. Not hot anger, but that kind of cold, silent anger that makes someone really dangerous. Jude can be your best friend, quick to help people who need it, but he can just as easily become your worst nightmare. He knows too much, and he's a bit too willing to use the knowledge he has.

Active Abilities

Suit Up: Jude's superhero outfit was built to last, and it covers everything on his body from below the bridge on his nose. It's made of a special carbon-fiber nanoweave, and extremely durable, unable to be cut by a normal knife and capable of withstanding non-supernatural strength. Small caliber bullets will bruise but not penetrate, and the suit is generally resistant to the elements. It'll stand up better than it should to fire, ice, electricity, etc.

Gun Creation: Jude is capable of instantly summoning a replica of any gun he's ever touched. These guns operate like their normal counterparts, minus any magical effects, but Jude only needs to mime the motions of reloading in order to reload them properly. When dropped or otherwise separated from Jude, the guns dissolve almost immediately. Bullets take about thirty seconds to dissolve.

Jude is capable of imbuing his ammunition with different effects. These effects replace the normal effects of bullets. Currently, Jude has access to four possible options:

• Fire: The ammo is incendiary, and erupt into flame upon contact with an object.
• Lightning: The ammo provides a stun effect, equivalent to getting shot with a taser.
• Bounce: The ammo operates like a normal bullet, but the first time it hits something, it bounces instead.
• Phase: The ammo operates like a normal bullet, but passes through the first solid thing it hits.

Efficiency: Jude is capable of speeding up actions he's mastered to a degree that his motion seems to be blurred. To master an action, he needs to have done so at least once a day for a week. The action must take less than five minutes to do normally, and is compressed down into the span of a second or two.

Memory Tampering: Jude is capable of adjusting the memories of himself or other willing participants. He can erase, create, or adjust memories freely. He requires physical contact to do this, and doing so requires several minutes.

Passive Abilities

More Than Human: Jude is always the picture of health, and is completely immune to non-magical illnesses or disease. He does not require sleep, and does not become exhausted by normal physical exertion. His vision is as good as a hawks, and his memory is perfect, with instant recall. Portions of his left side have been replaced with an unearthly metal, making him more durable where the patches are.

I Know All About It: Jude possesses an extra sense which is directly tuned to information. When someone is within 30 feet of him, he instinctively knows their name (whatever they consider their 'true name'), species, and any supernatural abilities they posses.

Biography

• Jude is originally from an alternate reality--one where super powered individuals were public knowledge, and a culture of heroes and villains rose as a result.
• Jude was born the only child of Basilio Genovese, a crime lord and villain of major importance in their hometown of Halcyon City.
• Around the time that Jude was 16, he came to the realization that he wasn't content to take his father's place at the head of the crime family, and instead began sneaking out to try and become a hero. He found other like minded teenagers, and began to moonlight as Jude, a non-powered gadget based hero using supplies he'd 'borrowed' from his father.
• His time with the team brought about several major revelations: The nature of his relationship with his father, the identity of his mother, and more truths about his friends. None were as important as the existence of the Gultha, extra-dimensional gods which had come to earth following the fleeing Ijians. Once he'd learned about the Gultha, the cracks in his life began to appear, and Jude eventually was told the alarming truth: His father was a Gultha host, and possessed a night unimaginable power.
• Not long after learning the truth about his father, Jude discovered Giltenn, taking the gauntlet for himself and bonding with the god inside. While originally elated at being suddenly on the same level of his father, he soon learned that the Gultha were not as unified as they had been assumed to be. Giltenn warned him against telling his father the truth, and Jude added his bond with Giltenn to the pile of secrets.
• All of those secrets backfired spectacularly when one of the greatest heroes in the city attempted to kill Basilio under the mistaken assumption that Basilio was threatening Jude and his team. Unaware that Jude was Basilio's son (or even that Basilio had a son at all), he instead detonated in front of Jude himself, nearly killing him.
• Only Giltenn fusing with Jude prevented Jude from dying, but doing so did reveal almost all of Jude's secrets, and very nearly got he and his teammates confined for life. Eventually, they were allowed to return to superheroics under the watchful eyes of the most important superhero team in the city, observed at all times.
• But things were rapidly going from bad to worse. The Gultha were beginning to manifest, with every available hero beginning an escalating campaign of attempts to stop the Gultha from tearing the world in half. Even throwing everything they had at it, the effort wasn't enough, and the world itself began to fail, the threat of being consumed entirely looming.
• While the battle was never truly called, it became obvious before long that the battle was no longer sustainable. In an attempt to spare at least some, one of the greatest wizards in the world created a portal to another world, a way for those remaining to flee. While most of the adults stayed behind, Jude and his friends either went through on their own, or were pushed through, winding up in Manta Carlos to await whoever else would be able to escape.
• In particular, each found themselves near their closest living alternate-reality relative. In Jude's case, it's none other than himself: Angelo Genovese.

Resources

Jude is currently living with Angelo Genovese, his self from this reality. While Angelo is housing him, the school is actually the one providing for Jude, giving him an allowance and ensuring he's taken care of. Jude also has some money saved from his two weeks as a personal assistant.

Extra Info

Jude is taking a modified course-load to accommodate his memory. Jude is taking literature, Spanish, art, and home economics as normal courses with minimal accommodations. He has a free period, and his final class is a specialized study hall. During study hall, he rotates what he's doing, doing quizzes and activities for math, science, and history. He's expected to read the textbooks on his own and to keep up, but is not expected to sit through lectures explaining subjects he's already memorized. Jude's study hall is primarily just testing, but he is also pulled into normal classes to listen to special speakers or to do labs.
