Basileios

Basileios is on his feet when the doctor mentions his affliction, reaching for his cane as he steps back. His hand rests on the hilt, ready to draw his sword- he refuses to take chances now, even if Kerelas claims he is free of the curse.

"Please forgive me if I am being cautious," He echoes the old man's words, "You did take my magic when you walked in the door and now you admit to being cursed."

But still, Basileios listens to what he has to say. He sees the weariness in his gaze, his face, his posture. He knows Kerelas is one who can be trusted- perhaps the only one left in the Order who can be.

So when the old man is done with his speech, and offers his hand, Basileios loosens his grip on his sword... and takes it.

"Provide me with any information you manage to find," He says with a quiet sense of determination. "I will make sure the right people hear it."

Perhaps it's time for him to return to society after all.

Author's Notes

The curse that plagued the citizens of Ivras seems to have dissipated, but the political ramifications hang over the realm like a different sort of miasma. Archon Miriam has used the curse as an excuse to double down on mage restrictions, now targeting those who make potions and elixirs. At the same time, word has spread among those who saw it happen that irresponsible Witchfinders were responsible for the curse.

Your character may believe what they like, but what do they do about it?

Tell the "truth" -- whatever your character believes it to be -- to everyone who will listen. The people deserve to know!
