Happy Valentines' Day~
\Jay’s POV/
I took a deep breath as I sat in front of the vanity in my room, my eyes closed. Opening one of my eyes, I decided to take a glance up at my reflection in the mirror. Staring at it for a few minutes, I sighed, a frown ever present on my face. “Do I even want to go through with this…?” I quickly shook my head and opened my other eye. “I may as well. I’ve gone this far… Hell, we’re… together… now…” As the words slowly left my mouth, I looked down at my hands and kind of just started twiddling my thumbs, feeling my flustered levels increase. “...I hope I don’t screw this up… I don’t wanna--” I paused in my self conversation and tense up, feeling something being dragged against the floor of my room. Looking towards my door, I relax at the sight of my Sikeri companion, Archie. He sat down by the door and tilted his head, his eyes shining curiosity. I completely turn to face him, I give him a small smile. “Just trying to give myself the confidence to go and see her… I want this to be special in some way but I’m…” I shyly scratch the back of my neck. “I’m just really worried is all…” I know I’m telling all this to a Sikeri, who doesn’t entirely understand what I’m feeling, but he knows well enough that she means a lot to me. Archie’s head stay tilted, confusion now flashing through his eyes. I just chuckled to myself then grabbed my long green scarf off of my vanity. “Think you could stay here for today? I want to spend time with just her today…” I asked my companion as I wrapped the scarf around my neck. Returning my gaze to my blueish-grey friend, his eyes were closed and his tail was wagging, signalling that he understood and agreed to stay at home. Giving him a bright grin, I walked over to my door and gave Archie a pat on the head. “I’ll see you later.” In response, he nudged his head against my cheek then proceeded to trot over to my bed to, more than likely, take a nap. Taking one more glance at my companion, I left my room and started making my way to the living room of this cave home.
Reaching the living room, I see many of my cave mates all hanging out and chatting. Glancing around, I noticed a few are actually missing from the bunches. I felt a tap on my shoulder causing me jump and instantly turn. I breathed a sigh of relief seeing Olivia sitting there, giving me an apologetic look. Sitting down myself, she began to sign. “Forgive me for that friend, I didn’t mean to startle you.” I just shook my head and gave her a small smile.
“It’s fine Olivia. I wasn’t paying much attention anyway.” She nodded in response. “I’ve noticed a few of our cave mates are not present…” She nodded once again.
“Yes, Domino is with their brother, Rue and Uluani are actually still upstairs sleeping. We didn’t want to wake them. And Credere went to go spend time with his, as he puts it, cookie?” Her head tilted as she signed the last part caused me to snicker.
“It’s what he calls Chippy.” Olivia still looked very confused. “...Chippy. Chocolate chip cookie.” A look of realization crossed her face as she finally put the two together.
“I guess I’m not as smart as I’d like to think.” She scratched her cheek sheepishly. I just gave her a small smile.
“Well, it’s good to know where they are at least.” With a slight bow of my head, I continued. “I must be off though. I do wish to go and see Talia before the end of the day.” Olivia’s eyes shown in a way that showed she was smiling.
“Ah, yes. Your lovely angel.”
“I’d prefer to call her my love… But angel would also work. Might not ever call her that vocally though.”
“Well, whatever you choose to call her, go and see her. Before the rest of your aristocratness starts rubbing off on us.” I gave a slight huff at that before bowing my head once more then getting up and leaving the cave, making my way through the forest and towards the town.
*Mini Skip to the City*
I took a deep breath as I was walking down the sidewalk. A path I know very well as it is one that I take a few times a week. Although, this time around, I’ll be taking a slight detour. One of Onyx’s friends had mentioned a holiday on Earth that was a day to celebrate with your loved ones, whether friends or significant others. She had said that some people give others chocolates, flowers, gifts… Many different things. I’m not really good at picking out gifts… So, I asked some of the others for some help. Most of them couldn’t help but Rue had told me that if I wanted to get her some flowers, that I could go to one of her friends. From what she told me, her friend has quite the green thumb and knows quite a lot about flowers. I was told to keep an eye open for---Oh. Stopping in my tracks, my eyes widen to see a house with all different types of trees out front. Carefully getting closer, I recognized a few trees as apple trees. “I guess Rue wasn’t kidding about the green thumb…” I mumbled to myself as I made my way towards the front door. When reaching it, I took a deep breath and knocked on the front door. I stood there for a couple of minutes before faintly hearing something similar to someone crashing to the floor. My eyes widened and just when I was about to open my mouth to ask if everything was okay, the door swung open and a Kat appeared into my vision. I blinked, sort of staring at them. Half pink, half blue and a white heart in the middle of the forehead and chest. Along with a set of butterfly wings and two different colored eyes. Yep, this definitely seems like Rue’s friend. I watched her tilt her head, eyes showing confusion. I carefully sat down and unfurled my fingers, proceeding to both sign and say, “Do you know sign language?” After doing that, the Kat in front of me blinked then proceeded to look off to her left and grabbed something from, what looked like, a side table. When her hands came back to view, she was holding a pencil and pad. I tilted my head as she began to write something down on the pad. After finishing her scribbling, she turned the pad to face me and it read,
‘Unfortunately, no I don’t. However, I can communicate with you like this, if that is alright?’ I smiled slightly and nodded in agreement, glad to know she was willing to compromise. She began to write something else and turned the pad once more. ‘Going from your appearance, may I assume you’re Rue’s friend and housemate, Jay?’ I nodded once again then sort of shrugged.
“We are… sort of housemates? It’s more like… cavemates as some of the others would call it.” She tilted her head at my comment. I just shook my head. “Regardless, yes, I’m Jay. And may I ask what your name is?” Turning the pad towards herself again, she started scribbling away again. She glanced up at me a few times while writing her response.
‘My name is Ishu. Botanist at your service.’ My eyes lit up at that but as I continued to read, I found myself getting a bit flustered. ‘Zion and Rue said you weren’t one to speak much. I’m sure you are speaking mostly so we can communicate, but may I ask why you are speaking so much?’ I shyly scratched my cheek, looking off to the side as I thought about my reasoning.
“Well… I’ve been mostly talking with Talia, so I guess it just sort of--” I paused, hearing rapid tapping. Glancing up, I see Ishu had wrote something new.
‘OH! Yes, Rue had mentioned her! This has to do with why you’re here, correct?’ Looking at the Kat themselves, I notice that she was kind of bouncing in place.
“Well, yes. Rue had told me you were good with flowers, so I was wondering if you could help me--”
“Make a bouquet filled with love?! Absolutely!!” I heard her faintly say for the first time since this conversation started. If I heard her, that probably means that she yelled that out. Guess she’s reeaallyy excited about flowers. I gulped then quietly nodded and, once I did, I heard her squeal as she dropped her pencil n’ pad and darted quickly inside, towards the back door. From my spot at the front door, it looked like the back was open prior and, from the look of the floor, it seems Ishu was taking care of some plants prior to my knocking cause the floor was covered in dirt.
“When Rue said her friend was a fanatic, I thought she was kidding…” I mumbled to myself as I watched the pink and blue Kat dart past her back door several times. This might be a bit…
*Skip to a few hours later*
“Note to self… Next time I visit Ishu… Bring Rue with me…” The Kat talks up a storm about flowers and invaded my personal bubble far too many times. I shuddered at the thought of her being right up in my face. “Well, at least they helped me out in the end…” I took a glance at the bouquet that I had put, safely, in a messenger bag to make it easier to carry. So many different flowers… From what they told me, the flowers were carnations and camellias, both of the red and white variety, some yellow tulips, gardenias and few colors of roses, some pale pinks, a few.. Bridal, I think Ishu called them? And.. wait… Pausing in my walk, I noticed that there was only one red rose. “I could’ve sworn she put more red roses in the bouquet…” I looked back in the direction of the flower obsessed Kat’s house then sighed. “Too far to go back now…” Glancing back down at the single red rose for a moment, I continued my trek to Talia’s house.
As I finally got to her house, I took a deep breath. “Now or never…” I gulped as I reached her front door and reached into my bag, looking for my keys to the door. I have visited so often, she just kind of gave me my own set of keys to her place… Made things far easier for her, especially if she was working on something, that way I could just let myself in instead of her pausing in her work to come and open the door for me. Finally finding my keys, I unlocked the front door and pushed it open, walking into the slightly messy living room. “Heh… Good to know she has been keeping herself busy.” I lightly chuckled as I closed and locked the door behind me, looking around to try and spot the tan colored Kat who stole my heart. Hm… Don’t see her here, which means she’s probably--- I heard a crash faintly coming from another room. My eyes widened in an instant and I immediately ran towards the sound of the crash. It came from her workshop area. Skidding to a stop once inside the workshop room, I looked around for the sign of where the crash came from and breathed a sigh of relief, seeing Talia climbing down a ladder and towards a bunch of metal that had fallen off of her current project. Once her feet touched the ground, I yelled out to her. “You really should be careful with your projects, love! One of these days you’re gonna get hurt cause of them!” Her eyes widened as she looked up at me, quite startled. As soon as she realized it was me, she seemed to have breathed a sigh of relief. With her tails swaying, she signed to me.
“I wasn’t expecting to see you here today! And I am careful! I’m always careful!” She crossed her arms and looked like she made a huff sound. I just shook my head, a small smile on my face, and walked over to her table.
“You know I worry, even if you are careful.” Keeping my eyes on her, I watched as she just rolled her eyes then walked over to me. Once she got close to me, she nudged her head against mine.
“I’m fully aware. But you really don’t need to.”
“Says the girl whose current project could’ve hurt her.” I heard her huff this time around then moved away from me. Unfurling her fingers again, she signed to me.
“So, what brings you here today?” Shyly scratching my cheek, I looked off to the side and quietly answered her.
“One of Onyx’s friends was telling us about her Earth friend’s holidays… And one of them was something called Valentines’ Day…” Deciding to look back at her, she seemed a bit confused. “It’s a day to celebrate and spend time with love ones as she put it… Whether family, friends, significant others…” I quietly mumbled the last part, still not used to saying it out loud. “So, um…” I carefully took the bouquet out of my bag and handed it to Talia. “...H-Here…” I managed to stutter out while looking off to the side. I felt her take the bouquet out of my hand and I wasn’t sure what was going on, mostly cause I was too nervous to look at her. Next thing I know, I felt her kiss my cheek and heard her say.
“Thank you, Jay. You’re very sweet~” When she pulled away, she had a very happy look on her face as she held the bouquet close to her. I smiled then took a deep breath, deciding to do something else. Gently tilting her head, I leaned and kissed her, just like I did around Christmas. It didn’t last long and once I pulled away, I moved my scarf up to cover my nose. I also chose not to look at her, this time, mostly due to me being flustered. Since the direction I was looking was Talia’s table, I saw her place the bouquet on it. I then felt her place her hands on my cheeks and then placed a kiss on my forehead. “You’re very cute, you know that?” She told me, pressing her forehead against my own. With a light chuckle, I placed my hands on top of hers.
“As are you, my love… As are you…~”

AYYYY, I SORT OF GOT THIS DONE ON TIME! :D But seriously, these two nerds are good and precious and love each other, so it's only fitting to do something for them today~ (They're also the first two to pop into my head for this sort of theme. xD)
I picked the flowers I did for the bouquet based off of what they meant (I'm going off of a website I found, so I'm not positive if this is what they actually mean, this is just what the website tells me.)
