Wyn closed the door to his empty house, pillow in hand and a blanket draped around his shoulders. He took out his key and locked the door, it wasn’t like there was anything worth stealing, it was just a habit. He walked quietly down the road, coming to a stop in front of the Red Family’s house. He circled around the back, hand against the wall to feel for the first window that indicated Silas’ bedroom. He found it, and shimmied the window open from the outside. It wasn’t hard, as the windows themselves were flimsy - the hardest part was getting in without waking his friend up.

He flipped the bottom of the window open, then picked up the top and held it up and he sat on the windowsill, poking his head in to make sure Silas hadn’t stirred.

Seeing he hadn’t, he dropped his stuff inside, then swung his legs over the windowsill into his room. He dropped silently onto the floor, pausing to listen if anyone had woken up. After a moment, he shut the window again quietly.

He tiptoed gently across the floor, walking silently as he dropped his pillow on the floor next to the bed [tbw]. He laid down slowly, not wanting the floor to creak. He threw his blanket over him, and he settled in, slightly uncomfortable on the hardwood floor.

No longer alone, however, he slept quickly.

Wyn awoke with a jolt as he felt the wind rush out of him, he sat up, coughing and spluttering, trying to catch his breath as someone dropped a string of expletives beside him. He rubbed at his eyes that hadn’t yet adjusted to the dark as the person flipped onto their back.

“Wyn?” It was Silas. “Wha’re you doin’ ere.” He said, not fully awake.

“I snuck in through your window.” He replied sheepishly.

“You WHAT?!” A light turned on the hallway, and both their faces dropped.

Silas’ dad opened the door. “What the hell is goin’ on in here?” He asked, leaning around the door.

    “Wyn’s here.” Silas replied.

    “I can see that.”

“Hey Mr. Red.” Wyn said cheerfully.

    “Call me Silka.”

    “Ok Mr. Silka!”

    “No..”

Wyn grinned up at him cheerfully, ignoring his harsh look. “Sorry ‘bout the noise Mr. Red. I think Silas tripped over me.”

“Yeah, that happens when you don’t tell me you’re sleeping on my floor.” Silas glared at him, but there wasn’t any malice behind it. Wyn stuck his tongue out in return.

“Why are you here, Wyntier?” Silka asked from the doorway, arms crossed.

“M’house is empty. Didn’t like it.” He said with a yawn, he looked at the clock on the wall, squinting too see it. It was around 4am. “Sorry again about the noise. Uh, I can leave-“ He said, suddenly nervous. He kicked Silas off of him - who scoffed - and began gathering his stuff.

“No, it’s fine Wyn. You can stay.” Silas said, also getting up.

Silka shook his head, but closed the door wordlessly and turned off the light, Wyn assumed he went back to bed.

“How did you even get in here?” Silas asked him, resetting his bed.

“Like I said, window.” Wyn sat back down and reposition his blanket.

    “Which side d’you want?”

“Whaddya mean?” He looked up at his friend confused.

“You think I’m gonna let you sleep on the floor?” Silas scoffed at him jokingly. Wyn smiled.

“Wall.” He said getting back up, bringing his pillow and blanket with him as he pushed past Silas and settled himself onto his bed, back pressed against the wall as he clutched his pillow in his arms.

“I’ll be back in a moment.” Silas said, quietly opening his door.

“M’kay.” Wyn mumbled back, already drifting off to sleep.

When he awoke early the next morning, Silas was next to him once more. Wyn smiled and grabbed one of his hands, before drifting off with a smile on his face once more.
