02. The Rink

Hesitantly taking Fennec's advice, the group carries on... Slightly perturbed but chipper nonetheless. Terra was already unloading her bags, Razor offering to help upon noticing there were hidden bags in the idol's coat.

"No, no, I got it." She said with a dismissive hand. "If I couldn't handle a few handbags, what kind of yume would I be? I may not look it, but there's some serious guns on these bad boys!"

Razor raised an eyebrow as Terra flexed with a grunt at the entrance of the rink, a ring of about 7 bags placed at her feet.

"Oh- I uh- it just looked like a lot to carry. Didn't realize you had so many till now. But I acknowledge your prowess." Razor replied quietly, still wondering how he missed so many in the first place.

"It's all a part of the job~"

The two exchanged small smiles and big grins, each doing their part for the party. Terra bedazzled the rink in the prettiest fairy lights that alternated between blue and gold. Lines of kettle corn were wrapped around the rink's poles, Briar immediately nagging Cyrus not to pluck a few off. He shrugged sheepishly, being quite the snackie. Razor found a small spot along the entrance to tap and sketch away in his fashion pad. He wasn't sure what he'd design yet, but he knew it just 'had' to imbue the holiday spirit along the cove. The four yumes were busy at work, some waving enthusiastically as more started to appear. All of them were welcome of course, but Razor had struck an epiphany. He suddenly shot up, the flames on his candle specters seeming to glitch and flicker from residual whiplash.

"THAT'S IT!!! HOW DID I NOT SEE IT BEFORE??"

Briar trailed over to the designer curiously, sighing internally when Cyrus sneaked a few more pieces of kettle corn.

"Is everything alright, Razor?"

"Is everything alright?? It's more than alright. I feel fucking fantastic. I've been wracking my brain for this gift for literal d a y s. That being said, I have to go, like n o w-"

Razor bounced a few steps in place as he started to move backward from his small seating area, Briar blinking in a lightly confused manner. He quickly reached out a hand to the nightmare, a few of his colorful particles meshing with the specters.

"W-wait, where are you going? We just got here--"

"I'll explain later--" Razor said, gently but hastily removing Briar's hand as he ran in the opposite direction. "I gotta follow this train of inspiration before it leaves!! I'll be back tonight, I swear!!!"

A few yumes quickly moved out of the way as Razor sped off, presumably to his house. Briar was still a bit shocked but brushed off the surprise rather quickly.

"Oh well... who am I to argue with genius." He laughed mostly to himself before joining Cyrus, (who was still destroying the decorations bite by bite) and Terra who appeared to be dancing and humming to a mental tune.

The yumes who were nearly bomb-rushed by the motivated yume approached the rink, one visibly flustered. The slightly stressed yume despite their tame nature stuck out even amongst the brightly lit rink. Their hair was white, long locks framing a rather pretty rainbow underneath. They were talking to a rather fancy-dressed yume in return, the second adorning a mostly black victorian dress with purple accents. Despite the added padding of fluff instead of delicate lace at the skirt and hem, it didn't outshine the intricate detailing of the dress pattern itself. Then again, seeing as they were yet another fashion lover, it was to be expected.

"Who was that? They looked to be in a hurry..." Corentin said, checking to see if his beloved umbrella was trampled in the short exchange.

"Ah yes... That was Razor. I've known him for quite some time now. Although even I can't decipher his spontaneity. It happens ironically in random bursts." Matilda stated matter of factly, brushing off her own dress gently of some stray snow with her dark, berry-colored mittens. "It's best to trust your own judgment regarding that, I'm afraid."

Corentin looked less than amused at the thought but figured it was just one sacrifice at coming to the likely lively event.

"I suppose there are worst troubles in the cove."

Matilda smiled, her mouth forming her iconic fox-like grin.

"That indeed."

The pair continued to the icy entrance, respectfully holding their own gift boxes. Terra, who spotted them in the midst of his dancing gasped dramatically before doing a tiny happy fanning motion with his hands.

"Oh hello!! And those presents look absolutely amazing. Love the personal touch for you two."

Corentin's was in baby blue wrapping paper with white raindrops. There was a matching white bow on top as well as an address tag. The tag was rimmed in a rainbow-dotted line, a gift seemingly for no one in particular. Matilda's, much like her, was quite intricate. The box likewise was in a shade of purple, coated in an imperial trellis pattern. The bow up top was a Pollyanna-styled bow made with one of her prettiest laces. She was quite proud of the gift, her giftee being a mystery as well.

"Fennec is still working on the inside with Shufen, but they'll probably let you guys in shortly. Briar still has put his yule log cake among other goodies on the dinner table."

"Ah, that's good. I would hate it if the box got ruined from the weather... even if it can be pretty." Corentin replied.

"Agreed, this box was quite pricey. I wanted to go all out this year, having missed last year's. It'd be a pity if it were ruined." Matilda said, expressing much of the same sentiment.

Terra looked around till she spotted a small sitting area near the side of Shufen's house that had an awning, most likely another spot for his beloved plants, and a decent-sized gazebo with long seats inside.

"You two could probably rest over there with the gifts, they won't get damaged in the snow that way."

Matilda lifted a hand above her eyes and squinted, trying to look at the area better.

"It looks large enough, that could work, actually. Thank you, Terra."

Corentin nodded with a smile, Terra returning the gesture.

"No problem! And Happy Holidays!"

The two yumes waved before heading to the area outside of the cold weather. Terra put her hands on her hips triumphantly only to see Cyrus pleading with Briar for the right to just one of his cookies.

"Briar please-- I'm starving out here and I've been trying to resist the smell of your baked goods since this morning."

"Nope! And if you eat another piece of that kettle corn you get no apple pie either."

"Aw, man..."
