All Fenerox have prehensile tails from when their ancestors were a tree-dwelling species, but cannot hang from them as they are too heavy. The tails remain as an emotional indicator. Fenerox still retain some semblance of tree-dwelling by most having to live in stilt houses on elevated platforms, as the majority of Fenev'ta is savanna biome made of floodplains.
Fenerox historically have had a matriarchal society.
Many Fenerox cultures are predominantly polyamorous, specifically with female Fenerox taking multiple primary male mates and secondary female mates. Monogamy in these cultures was seen as deviant because of Fenerox social structure prioritizing a Fenerox's obligation to the community, part of which includes serving as a sire or dam if needed.
Fenerox are a carbon-based mammalian-esque species semi-similar to humans. Their hearing and sense of smell is acute, and possess night vision, although their vision level is around the same as a human's. They have split pupils, but they are difficult to perceive as Fenerox have a third eyelid that is tinted to help shield their delicate eyes from the intense sun and any debris.
Assigned female at birth Fenerox are taller than assigned male at birth Fenerox. They do not have breasts. Traditionally they are expected to serve as leaders in their community, be it mayors, politicians, ambassadors, or assorted council members.
Assigned male at birth Fenerox have belly pouches with up to six abdominal nipples to nurse young, and typically do the most child raising in a couple. Traditionally they assist with familial matters, such as raising children, caring for the elders and disabled.
Intersex Fenerox are possible, and depending on the specific intersex condition may be fertile or sterile. In several Fenerox cultures they are considered spiritual blessings and often pursue religious or artistic careers.
Fenerox capable of pregnancy usually have litters of 1-6 kits, with 2-3 being the most common. The young are completely helpless after birth, being hairless with closed eyes until several months old.
There are three aligned tribes in particular who interact with the Protectorate Alliance. One of them, the [WIP], is particularly ambitious about progressing intergalactic relations in order to gain technology and become fully space faring despite caution from other tribes (both those against and for intergalactic relations) in how it could affect their society. It does not help matters that this tribe historically enacted warfare against and absorbed several other tribes.
