A Friendly Memory

This was the longest Sofia and Plant had been in a safe haven. So far no one knew he had been a hunter and he had been pretty good at keeping his temper. Except the one time he might’ve destroyed a table in frustration.
But he was doing good. He even made his first robot friend.
“You know, Plant, you don’t talk much about where you’ve come from.” The other bot said one day. Plant could feel uneasy with the subject being brought up.
“So? I don’t see the point in talking about it. The past is the past.” Plant said. He knew what would happen if they brought it up. He had been trying his best to come up with a cover story for his past but he still wasn’t ready to tell it yet.
“Oh come on, Plant. I want to know. Here, let me guess.” They stared him down, making him slightly uncomfortable. “You were born in a safe haven, right? And and, the girl with you is your creator’s daughter, right? Or maybe from the from safe haven at least. And there was a raid, right?” That was the only reason in their mind that would make any robot want to leave a safe haven.
Plant stared them down, trying his best to gather his emotions. “Close…”
“…Why won’t you tell me?”
The ex-hunter gave a growl. “Because I don’t want to. Can’t you just be happy I’m here and we’re friends? It doesn’t matter what happened before then, right?”
There was a slight amused look on their face. “Except you destroying the kitchen table.” After that they let it go though, moving onto talking about the stars. Plant was happy about that. They didn’t need to know who he had been. Who he was. He wanted them to stay friends for awhile longer. Even if it was for a little while. It was fun pretending he had always been a free bot. “Hey Plant, do you think I could go to space one day?” They asked. Plant gave an amused look.
“Sure. I’ll help you.” He responded. The two of them exchanged smiles before enjoying the night sky together.
