intro

You, a band of pirates/rebels, are planning to steal an ancient and precious artefact of your thriving and bustling city, which has been taken captive, like many other of the precious things of your city by captain thorwthwight and his malicious and ruthless army under his command, given to him by the king of Vanerath, this artifact is being kept in the central tower in the middle of the city.

Why the king of Vanerath removed the mayor of the city and replaced them with captain thorwthwight is vastly rumoured about, the optimists say that the king saw that the city of Ar’vien was struggling and need of assistance, so he sent his troupes to help out. others say that the king was jealous of the amounts of popularity and wealth that Ar’vien was gaining and wanted some for himself. you may also hear a story of a once great king, now corrupt with power and greed, or something far worse, a lost and forgotten power of immense size to be passed down into myth and legend and eventually forgotten, so old that great stories from the first times depict such beings. another story passed around is one of a paranoid king, worried of being revolted against, who has locked himself in his castle, who has strengthened his control on his kingdom, on his branching cities, who has terminated travel from the lower rings of the main city of Vanerath, to the upper rings to ensure his protection. Of course, the are many twists on these tales so it is up to you to decide which you believe.
