Vengeance - Healing (Aurene | Amicita)

«Quick, Run!» Amicita yelled back to Aurene as she escaped the rampaging Mandaringo, the storm mane close behind her. The heard a bellowing roar from the water, so the beast had followed them to the land, but it got more quiet fast as the two Saliko dashed over the frozen ground. There was no place to hide around here, and in the snow they’d be spotted easily, so they kept going, switching from their run into a trott and looking back every now and then to see if the albino was still after them. Finally, when the jills reached a patch of Frosted Crimpleaves, they hid behind the large plants and stayed silent for a bit to catch their breath and listen for any suspicious sounds. When they realised they were safe, the two sat up and looked at each other, then they started laughing. «Demetos, let’s never do THAT again!» «What do you mean? I just wanted to suggest we should go back, just for the kicks!» «But in all honesty, I think I’ll get a headache. He hit me with his tail, right on my head and it’s slowly starting to protest.» «I feel ya, I could go for some poppyseeds before my whole body starts to ache after this fight. But at least we aren’t badly wounded.» «Yeah, I think we were pretty lucky there.» After a little chit-chat they got back to their paws and kept going south, towards a distant forest. «Actually, we might be able to get some poppyseeds. A while ago I saw this kooky looking hob. He announced he was a healer and would provide help to anyone who needed it.» «Really? Sounds a bit too convenient, especially out here in the middle of nowhere.» «But it doesn’t hurt to try finding him, right?» «Well, it would only be the second most stupid thing we did today.» And so they started calling out into the frozen sky, trying to find the healer.

But after running around for a while with no success, they stopped again and Aurene sighed. «Nevermind, this IS the most stupid thing we’ve done today.» «Actually, I started to remember halfway through that he said he’d be at an entrance to the crossroads.» «The tunnel system? Of course, the one thing that’s NOT around here.» Amicita looked a little worried, clearly feeling bad she didn’t tell the other jill earlier. The storm maned Saliko noticed and offered her a warm smile. «It’s alright, I had fun exploring with you! I had a feeling we wouldn’t find him, but I also didn’t want to stop you from having fun so we’re both equally to blame.» «Wait…do you smell that?» «Hm?» The two Tundras checked the breeze. A delicate, sweet scent was in the air and like in a trance they followed the smell until they reached an open forest. «I think it’s coming from this tree…» They found a barren tree with something tucked between a low forked branch. It looked like something was wrapped tightly in some Frosted Crimleaves. «What is it?» Amicita shrugged, stood up on the tree and carefully grabbed the package with her teeth before placing it on the ground. «It smells like…honey?» «No not quite. It’s honeyshrooms!» When the two realised what they had found, they grinned from ear to ear. «I haven’t seen these in ages! They’re so delicious!» «You know, even though this isn’t what we’ve been looking for, I’m already feeling better!» And with a quick swoop, one of the shrooms was gone. Then soon afterwards another. The two shared their treats fairly and licked their lips when they were done. «Now I’d even say it was all worth the trouble, don’t you think?» «Absolutely. Can’t wait to get hit on the head again.» Amicita said and smirked.
