Misty Hylees and Ashley the Braixen were having a friendly conversation.
“So, Misty,” Ashley asked, “What are you trying to do when looking for the Spacious Paperback?”
“Nothing,” Misty replied, “Right now, I don’t know what I am going to do. I may fix the world’s problems. I could become rich. I could give everyone immortality.”
“So, selfish reasons?”
“Maybe, but I’m not sure yet.”
“There’s more to life than just gaining your own desires and sticking to your beliefs.”
“How do you know that?”
“I was once a part of a tribe that believed in Gaveltal. You know that religion?”
“Yeah, I know. It was a big cult.”
“I was born into it. I got ostracized, and then someone… special to me gave me a second chance. I couldn’t be more grateful to her. Point is, Misty, that no matter what you do, you need to learn that selflessness will be valued and appreciated more than selfishness.”
“That’s funny you say that. We know about the treasons Zex committed, but all of Chris the Zorua’s books are celebrated once and then forgotten about.”
“What do you mean by that? Chris’ books are always talked about!”
“Name one.”
“The Valor Within.”
Misty laughed. “That was a co-editor role!”
“It was still something he had a hand in writing,” Ashley shot back, “There’s gotta be something!”
“And when you find it, Ashley, let me know. For now, you’ve got nothin’.”
