Sugarpaw was on patrol when he heard it, a quiet but noticeable… whimpering.?. For a second he debated not even investigating but that was the point of patrol after all. Plus someone was clearly hurt and he couldn't just leave them if they were. His movements were calm but lightly cautious as he slowly approached, looping behind trees until he could find the source. And when he did he paused, a small Furfrou pup was curled against the base of a tree not too far off the path. Small whines and whimpers edmiting from them consistently, Sugar couldn't immediately see any injuries on them. Nor did he see their parents anywhere which was… strange. The pup was definitely a bit too young to be left alone

"Hey." The bored yet harsh tone made the other mon look up a bit startled (and slightly frightened) "Why are you out here alone?" Their red eyes were wide and focused as they shrunk away lightly and Sugarpaw had to focus not to scrunch up his posture to be less intimidating. Despite how loud and annoying pups tend to be he'd unfortunately always had a bit of a soft spot for them.

"Come on now, don't just keep whimpering, answer the question." The smaller took a few deep breaths to calm down though they didn't answer. Instead they just ducked their head, eyes trained down. Against his will the cookie like canine felt his tone soften just a bit

"Hey! Hey! Eyes on me, you're not in trouble I just need to get you home." The pup looked back up before looking off to the side and Sugar bit his tongue to keep from commenting.

"My trainer left me" the words where mumbled quietly but he was still about to catch them. His lip curled, teeth bared lightly at the answer, it was no secret how much he disliked trainers. Even so he had expected them to have the decency not to leave a pup alone in the woods. His eyes surveyed the area around them as he debated on what to do. Obviously he couldn't just leave them here alone, besides their trainer probably wasn't coming back. Even if they did he wouldn't trust them to take care of the pup after this stunt. Glancing back to the pup who'd stopped crying by now and had even drifted to press against his legs Sugar knew he mind was already made up.

Reaching back he couldn't help flickering his tail a bit as he broke off a piece and gave it to his the pup.

"Get up and follow me" he didn't stop to see if the other was following just turned and started off. After a moment rapid little footsteps rushed to catch up.
