New Years 1973, freshman resolutions
A warm up free writing assignment I did in English class! Not the best but it was a “do-now” to make while everyone got to class. We had to write about our New Years goals but my skills don’t show very well when I wrote about myself in first person so I asked permission to use my ocs instead and write about a character’s goals instead🙏

New Year, 1973
Twyla Turner, for Sunshine Hill’s High English Class
Halfway through year one of high school! I’ve been considering taking up an instrument like most people here. I guess my resolution would be to make more friends? I’ve already made one great friend though! Actually, in this class! Sable Weston, she’s in choir and makes me want to be a part of something bigger. There are a lot of really cool and talented people at Sunshine Hills High actually, I’m just honored to be here. Most of us came from the same middle school in the area, but I actually didn’t, I was a private school kid. So I guess my new year’s resolutions for 73? Make more friends, improve my painting skills, take up an instrument, and get closer to Sable! I just want to really have fun in high school. Sable invited me over during Christmas break, and I think we’re really going to start off high school strong together. Did I mention I’m looking for love this year too? It’s high school, I hope it’s just like the movies! I guess any guy would do, if he’ll listen to the Moondogs and dance around my room with me. So far though, being around Sable is what I really want to do. A best friend is the most important person to have in high school.
