“There’s just one more thing I’d like to do.” The trio was curious as they looked at the little chaser.
She smiled sweetly. “I need your help, come with me!”
The group shrugged and followed her, not sure what else to do, as the three tailed chaser led them to the edge of the fair. Growing more confused by the moment, it was Dhani who noticed a cart on the fringes of the fair, and pointed it out. Ember only smiled and sped up, so they rest picked up the pace to follow her.
Silvayne poked his head under the tarp that covered the cart, and then pulled back with wide eyes. It only made Cass more curious as she grabbed the tarp and pulled it off. Ember climbed into the cart and smiled from atop a huge pumpkin.
“I’ve been growing it all year! I need your guy’s help to get it to get judged! I’m not strong enough and it took forever to get the cart here by myself but you guys are pretty strong and can do this, right?”
Cassia and Dhani easily could hook themselves up to the cart, the two pullers doing exactly what they needed to do. Silvayne jumped in the back with Ember, helping secure the pumpkin so it didn’t roll around. The chaser squealed in excitement as she babbled about how she had been growing it since last year. Dhani had a soft smile on her face listening to her, much like a proud mother, and Cass wondered what it was like to enjoy the simple things in life again.
“Left! Right! No Left again!” Ember gave them directions from the back while the pullers took their time to carefully walk through the fair and take their group to where the vegetables were being judged.
“Cutting is close there, miss.” The judge frowned down at her, only receiving a shy smile in return.
“Yeah, well, I kinda forgot.” Cass, who had been around Ember the most, had to roll her eyes and sigh. Yeah, that sounded pretty on par for what she knew.
“Come on, let’s get set up.” Cass encouraged the group, the three of them following her with ease to where the judge directed.

The trip didn’t seem to take too long, even with the little chaser’s incorrect directions this way and that. However what they weren’t aware of was the deadline to enter, causing them all to feel a bit sheepish. Dhani shook herself out in the pulling gear, it had definitely been some time since she had had to pull a cart, and her muscles were still a bit sore from the race prior. But she had made it, and she looked over her shoulder for Ember to guide them to the patch where the enormous pumpkin could be released.
With Dhani and Cass pulling the cart, it was a short arrival to the plot. But they had passed so many large fruits and veggies, Dhani didn’t know it was possible to grow things so large! “Would you just look at that.” Cass said, pointing over to a squash that was abnormally large. “How do these folk even get something to grow so big? What did you feed this thing Ember?”
Silvayne followed along with the group, taking in the sights and looking for the next possible moment he may be able to flirt with Cass. Ignoring most of the other conversation. Ember perked her ears up now, rather excited, “OH! I fed it LOOOTS of good things! Nutrients, I kept it warm.. I tucked it in at night.. You know, sang to it? What everyone does when they grow plants!” She wagged her tails, completely oblivious to the fact that she was just very eccentric.
Dhani chuckled and smiled, happy to hear of such things until they finally pulled up to the plot. Both Ember and Silvayne helped to release them from the cart so they could carefully unload the giant pumpkin. The four of them set up a ramp, covering it with a large burlap strip so as to not damage the large thing.
The group had Silvayne take his place at the top of the cart and slowly push the pumpkin down, so the two larger pullers could “catch” the massive thing at the bottom. Ember had decided to ride on top of her creation- and Dhani couldn’t blame her for such a venture. She had been growing it for a year!
With a mixture of struggle and finesse, the group managed to get the large pumpkin all set up. Silvayne taking a walk around to make sure nothing was out of place, it had to be just right to make sure it was up to snuff for Cass.
Dani took a step back herself to observe, finally nodding in approval once Ember tied a lovely blue ribbon around the stem of the pumpkin, hoping to make it stand out amongst the tough competition!
