The guardian lays like a massive rock in the sand.
The invasive dust finds its place in between his fingers, on his back, his wings and in his eyes.
He's lived here forever and doesn't seem to be minding his situation. Rather, he finds comfort in it, as a cub would in being under his mother's wings.
When he stands, his paws sink into the beach's floor.
He's become used to it and now climbs the dunes with ease. There is no need for fluttering above as he used to as a hatchling.
Up the hill, he can see the line where the land meets the sea even clearer.
The foam above the water reminds him of a certain someone.
He takes consolation in the memories. Hopefully they'll meet again.
