1.First Meeting

She liked attention. She liked flirting and being doted on. She even liked the occasional battle for her affection. But sometimes she wanted to be left alone. Adora had ventured to her favorite arcade, but had had to abandon her favorite game of A Cryptid Rhythm Mystery when a couple of guys couldn’t seem to take a hint. She thought leaving the arcade would be the end of it, but as she traveled the five blocks to another arcade, she realized that the men were following her. No sooner did they catch her looking, than they approached her once more. Adora bristled with irritation and fear. She hurried into the arcade, scanning her surroundings. Her eyes landed on an intimidating looking man seated at a machine nearby.

As the men entered on her heels, Adora hurried over to the stranger and plopped onto his lap. She offered him a mischievous grin before turning to the pair who’d been following her. “If you guys really want to play, then you’re welcome to join me and my boyfriend?” She watched the man stop in their tracks with a satisfied smirk. But then she felt the stranger shifting beneath her. Adora quickly hopped off of his lap as he moved to standing.

She glanced over her shoulder and gaped at how tall he was. Admittedly, she was a small woman, but this guy was HUGE. He glowered down at her and the two men and training her expression, she looked back at her pursuers, trying to play off her growing concern. They balked at his towering figure and both backed away. His voice came out stiff and gruff. “Can I help you?”

The two men stammered out apologies and promptly fled the arcade. Asmodeus glared at their retreating forms before turning his attention to the tiny woman before him. The pair were clearly up to no good and he didn’t think it was by any fault of hers, although her sitting in his lap had been a surprise. It seemed that the woman was full of them as she finally voiced an apology of her own and began digging into her purse. Az didn’t know what to expect, but was left gaping as she produced a small lollipop and pressed it into his hands.

“You really saved me, thank you!”

She winked before popping a second lollipop into her mouth and fleeing the arcade as well. Az found himself absentmindedly opening the candy and parting his lips for a taste. He could only stare at the door, the strange woman leaving him in a daze with the taste of blue raspberry on his tongue.
