Mr. Chien's Family Comments

He’s married to his childhood sweetheart. He relates a story about how he met his wife to Marco (after Marco steals Mr. Chien’s wallet and sees a photo of Mr. Chien’s son and “hot-ass wife”). Back when he was younger, he’d always take care of a girl by the name of Lin Yin Ai. When they’re parents weren’t around, it was guaranteed they were with each other. She was 2 years younger, so they didn’t have the same classes though. But walking home together (Mr. Chien (Jie Qi), age 8 and Yin Ai, age 6). Yin Ai, suddenly out of the blue, says “I love you.” Jie Qi goes “Sure why not.” (Mr. Chien was a really apathetic person as a young child.) Then, exactly 20 years later, they get married. Marco of course, goes “D'AWWW YOU MARRIED YOUR CHILDHOOD SWEETHEART?” But Mr. Chien is like “NOPE ACTUALLY IT WAS AN ARRANGED MARRIAGE. IT WAS A JUST A COINCIDENCE WE LIKED EACH OTHER WHEN WE WERE YOUNG.” and Marco is like “WHAT D:”

The truth was, Jie Qi, aged 28, was pretty much one of those guys who really had no time for going out to date women. His parents asked him if it was OK to set him up with someone, and he goes “Sure why not. (Mr. Chien was a really apathetic person in general). Then his parents set up up with Yin Ai (they had not seen each other in almost a decade, and didn’t recognize each other). Jie Qi goes out with her once and then cuts to the chase, asking her if she’d like to get married. She agrees (FOR SOME REASON.) They get married, within a month she’s pregnant with his son, Gao Zhong, and the next year their son is born. During this time period, they do fall in love with each other, and then find out that they used to like each other when they were young. All Mr. Chien has to say is that it’s a strange coincidence, and everything worked out OK.

Mr. Chien is a hopeless case around his family. He’s sickeningly sweet when he’s with his wife sometimes. And Mr. Chien always buys whatever his son wants. Strangely enough, Gao Zhong is a really kind and sweet child, and doesn’t ask for much (which is great on his dad’s wallet), but whatever he asks for, his dad will buy it without fail (even if it’s crazy expensive).
