The Destined Winglet is a Wings of Fire AU where instead of the Dragonets of Destiny having to stop the war, the Jade Winglet takes their place. Even though there are only five dragonets in the original, this AU includes seven! How will the Jade winglet handle the prophecy compared to how the original Dragonets of Destiny did it? Let’s find out!

This contains spoilers for the first book of Wings of Fire by Tui T. Surherland.

Prologue

“Webs, you idiot!” Kestrel growled, smoke rising from her nostrils. “We only need FIVE eggs, what in the world was the point of bringing every other egg that exists EXCEPT THE ONE WE NEED?! You have an Icewing and a Rainwing! Where the hell is the Skywing egg?!”

Webs opened his mouth to speak before again being interrupted by Kestrel.

“How did you get that Icewing egg?” Kestrel snarled.

“Queen Scarlet burned all of the Skywing eggs that were supposed to hatch tonight! I went to the Rainforest to get a replacement egg, because after all, we need five eggs for the prophecy, when this Icewing named Cirrus approached me. He gave me the egg and I sped back!” Webs explained.

“Shut up! The Sandwing is hatching!” Dune exclaimed, half alarmed, half excited. Webs quickly put the Rainwing and Icewing eggs with the others.

The Sandwing broke out of the egg and spread out its wings, throwing tiny pieces of shells all over the place.

“What should we name him?” asked Kestrel, narrowing her eyes at the small dragonet.

“…Qibli.” Dune murmured.

“Huh?” Webs breathed obliviously. Qibli looked around, spying the eggs around him. The Nightwing egg had a crack on it. Kestrel looked at the egg angrily. He seemed to still be angry because there was no Skywing egg.

The top of the egg broke off and a small head popped out.

“Let’s name it Moonwatcher!” Webs blurted.

“Yeah, let’s name a dragonet who’s never seen the moons before, ‘Moonwatcher!’ How creative!” Kestrel teased.

Webs scowled at Kestrel before picking up the small dragonet and smiling warmly at her.
