Relationship History & Details: Soren x Miles

Context/History

Soren and Miles were both born in a laboratory in Hell – one where Lucifer enlisted scientists to help him play god – and was fairly successful, in fact. From these experiments came many varieties of special hybrid demons, each one unique and each one made with a human's soul instead of a demon's. Their lifespan is more like a human's, but they grow in strength much more quickly than normal demons, reaching peak strength around 20-25 years instead of more than 200 years. Thus, their kind were intended to be trained as soldiers for Lucifer's armies.

Though Soren had great potential in his skills, even at an early age he was deemed to be a failure as a potential soldier. He was so sweet that he could not bear to harm another creature. At around five years old he met Miles (around eight at the time), whose sense of justice drove him to jump to Soren's defense against those who berated him for failing to live up to expectations. 

At first, Miles actually thought Soren was female. Learning the truth that Soren was male, though surprising to Miles at the time as he had never seen a male so pretty, changed nothing. 

They became great friends, and as they grew older and closer, realized what they felt for eachother had become not just friendship but love.

Miles, being older, 'graduated' the program first and was sent out to integrate more with demon culture and await orders. Even if he didn't believe in everything he was told, he knew what to say and how to act around those who taught them. He was a great actor by his very nature, and though he had no desire to be a soldier some day, he could fool others.

Before he left the labs, he told Soren where to go to find him when he made it out too. By the sea – he was gonna become a pirate. The good kind.

And become a pirate he did! By the time Soren was released (though still considered a failure not suited to be a proper soldier), Miles had a home by the sea, a ship, and small crew of his own. Though not the largest among the ships at the port, Leviathan's Song was sleek and quick. On typical days they transported goods from shore to shore as was requested. But under cover of fog, they stole. But not just any stealing...These pirates for good 'stole' human slaves from demons who had them. Human slavery in Hell was technically illegal by the letter of the law, but was one of those laws where in most regions not much would be done about it unless you ran into someone higher rank who was feeling particularly upset with you that day. However, this also meant that those in power probably would not help you if your slave was stolen from you, either. It was a risky venture to help them of course, but worth it.

Soren was readily welcomed to the crew. His keen eyes (and his speed, where needed) were of great value to their mission. His extremely gentle demeanor (though he needed to be sure his sharp teeth could not be seen) helped humans relax as they were taken to a safer place, a protected territory owned by a gold dragon who allowed humans to live there as humans do without demon control so long as they did not leave the territory and get themselves into trouble. It wasn't perfect of course, but it was the best anyone could do without running into major issues.

When not accompanying the crew on the ship, Soren had a career as a messenger, which helped him afford his (expensive!!) food – fresh fruit, mostly – while Miles covered the rest of their needed funds for living.

They were pretty happy, but life has a way of throwing curveballs at you, sometimes for better and sometimes for worse. They gained a powerful friend and ally in Kirudon (after a misunderstanding that had Soren and Miles thinking it was to be their last stand...), but none of them knew the apocalypse would soon be on the horizon...and things would get much more difficult for everyone. Soren and Miles would have to run away together, away from those who wanted them to be soldiers. They would of course try to help humans still when they could, but during those first years of the apocalypse, it was all they could do to hide and survive - there were dangers on all sides.

Relationship Details

Soren and Miles are both pansexual and panromantic, but they also have the kind of relationship where they can bring other temporary partners in, so long as all parties approve of eachother. They are most important to eachother, however, so they're also perfectly happy just the two of them. Partners they add in are often friends beforehand, but they're not permanent arrangements either. More of a group thing rather than separate partners.

Soren is definitely the more snuggly of the two, initiating hand-holding and cuddles more often than Miles does (though he too occasionally initiates these things and will always accept them). Soren is, for lack of a better term, a more submissive personality, preferring to let Miles take the lead in most things. He feels more comfortable this way, but also has no problem speaking his mind on those rare occasions where his opinions and desires do differ.

Meanwhile, Miles is more sexual than Soren is, but not overly so. Overtly sexual things are for in private! However, when it comes to showing affection to Soren in general, he is fairly public about it, ensuring others know how beautiful and amazing his boyfriend is. Soren thinks this is embarrassing, but also kind of sweet.

Miles is more prone to dramatic gestures, occasionally sweeping Soren into a dance or singing songs to him.

Miles is quick to jump to Soren's defense when trouble is around, even  if Soren may have accidentally gotten himself into the problem in the   first place. Even if Miles told him it would be a bad idea. Soren has  no real will or ability to use intimidation or acting to fool others  into leaving him alone, so Miles has to be good enough at those for the  both of them. Must protect soft boi. Miles just can't stay mad at him.

They usually sleep on their sides, face to face. Mostly because Soren's large wings would get in the way otherwise, but they do enjoy seeing eachother when they wake up.

-Despite it being canon in lore for them to invite others, please don't just add another random character partner for them lol. I'd prefer to just get art of the two of them.

-Tastefully suggestive art is OK, though, but not fully nude.

-If Soren is shirtless, please note that he has a patch of super soft white down feathers on his chest. Not too much.

Soren may be gently bound with soft white ribbons if you wanna do something a lil spicy with him (but uh, not TOO spicy lol).

-I mean, I always like cuddly art hahaha. Or looking lovingly at eachother or something like that.
