- What’s the lie your character says most often?
- ‘Oh, I’m fine, how are you?’
- How loosely or strictly do they use the word ‘friend’?
- A lot looser before the host debacle, that’s for sure
- How often do they show their genuine emotions to others versus just the audience knowing?
- Considering the audience’s primary interaction w the story is through her journal entries, there’s a lot of disparity
- What’s a hobby they used to have that they miss?
- Gardening. Between how busy she is, and school accommodations, she can’t do it much anymore
- Can they cry on command? If so, what do they think about to make it happen?
- Nope
- What’s their favorite [insert anything] that they’ve never recommended to anyone before?
- The handmade rock candy this one booth on the pier sells. Its her little secret :)
- What would you (mun) yell in the middle of a crowd to find them? What would their best friend and/or romantic partner yell?
- I would yell something like ‘EDISON WAS OKAY’. Eliza would not need to yell, she has powers.
- How loose is their use of the phrase ‘I love you’?
- Extremely tight, have I mentioned how emotionally blocked she is
- Do they give tough love or gentle love most often? Which do they prefer to receive?
- Gentle on both counts.
- What fact do they excitedly tell everyone about at every opportunity?
- She once helped raise a giant octopus from infancy.
- If someone was impersonating them, what would friends / family ask or do to tell the difference?
- Offer her tea; she is vocal about her coffee addiction.
- What’s something that makes them laugh every single time? Be specific!
- Whatever the Methean equivalent is to out of place TF2 screams.
- When do they fake a smile? How often?
- Like through all of book one.
- How do they put out a candle?
- Blowing on it.
- What’s the most obvious difference between their behavior at home, at work, at school, with friends, and when they’re alone?
- Her real passionate drive only shows up when she’s working, and even more so alone. This is when she gets Super mad science bwa ha ha -y. Meanwhile, with her friends she can be tender and slightly vulnerable.
- What kinds of people do they have arguments with in their head?
- Mostly her ‘shadow self’/id.
- What do they notice first in the mirror versus what most people first notice looking at them?
- Primarily the shape of her jawline and proportions of her shoulders (genetics were kind to her re: facial hair). Most people first notice…the…total lack of any color…
- Who do they love truly, 100% unconditionally (if anyone)?
- Conrad, Eliza, and her little sister.
- What would they do if stuck in a room with the person they’ve been avoiding?
- Pull out a book and attempt to get lost in it.
- What common etiquette do they disagree with? Do they still follow it?
- That clothing, especially skirts and dresses, are/should be gendered. Yes she follows it she’s trans /j
- What simple activity that most people do / can do scares your character?
- Ordering/putting together a sandwich at a restaurant.
- What do they feel guilty for that the other person(s) doesn’t / don’t even remember?
- Stealing a candy bar when she was like 7.
- Did they take a cookie from the cookie jar? What kind of cookie was it?
- Yes, shortbread.
- What subject / topic do they know a lot about that’s completely useless to the direct plot?
- Atomic weight.
- How would they respond to being fired by a good boss?
- ‘I understand…’
- What’s the worst gift they ever received? How did they respond?
- Her first tie, with the obligatory ‘you’re starting to be a man’ speech. She responded by getting her first dysphoria attack and then burying her feelings.
- What do they tell people they want? What do they actually want?
- Privacy, a (insert relevant mechanical part here), maybe a nice biscuit. Setting aside plot and transition stuff, she’d love to have nice dreams that aren’t just the same cycle of ‘theme park-vacation home-toy store’.
- How do they respond when someone doesn’t believe them?
- Grabs a piece of evidence from her bag and presents it.
- When they make a mistake and feel bad, does the guilt differ when it’s personal versus when it’s professional?
- Yeah. Personal it's a lot worse.
- When do they feel the most guilt? How do they respond to it?
- When talking about her personal feelings and how she’s burdening people with them. She simply does not do it.
- If they committed one petty crime / misdemeanor, what would it be? Why?

- How do they greet someone they dislike / hate?
- Gritted teeth and obviously phony smile, walking faster in the other direction.
- How do they greet someone they like / love?
- Depends on the person. She and Conrad have a secret handshake, she and Eliza have a spectrum of ‘take each other’s hands -> falling into the other’s arms’.
- What is the smallest, morally questionable choice they’ve made?
- See again #23.
- What’s a secret they haven’t told serious romantic partners and don’t plan to tell?
- You know how you were in elementary school and wanted to marry your best friend? Yeah she ran her mouth off about that during recess… And Messed Up Her Name.
- What hobby are they good at in private, but bad at in front of others? Why?
- Piano (the rest of the gang are not ‘others’). Good ol’ performance anxiety.
- Would they rather be invited to an event to feel included or be excluded from an event if they were not genuinely wanted there?
- The Former.
- How do they respond to a loose handshake? What goes through their head?
- “ah”.
- What phrases, pronunciations, or mannerisms did they pick up from someone / somewhere else?
- After the host debacle, she started using more old-timey slang like ‘nuts to that’. Eliza thinks it’s funny.
- If invited to a TED Talk, what topic would they present on? What would the title of their presentation be?
- Either esoteric forms of energy or LGBT people in STEM. titling the former as ‘on Ectoplasm, Electricity, and Potatoes.’
- What do they commonly misinterpret because of their own upbringing / environment / biases? How do they respond when realizing the misunderstanding?
- Her parents are very lovey dovey, so she for a while had a hard time discerning ‘we’re both feeling neutral right now’ from ‘genuine trouble in paradise’.
- What language would be easiest for them to learn? Why?
- Basically any romance language, she learned a lot of Latin to help w her research.
- What’s something unimportant / frivolous that they hate passionately?
- Country music.
- Are they a listener or a talker? If they’re a listener, what makes them talk? If they’re a talker, what makes them listen?
- Listener. When people bring up science things, or things related to a niche interest of hers, she talks.
- Who have they forgotten about that remembers them very well?
- She was probably crushed on in middle school by someone. Probably for the best they don’t really know each other anymore.
- Who would they say ‘yes’ to if invited to do something they abhorred / strongly didn’t want to do?
- Conrad or Eliza, probably.
- Would they eat something they find gross to be polite?
- Yes.
- What belief / moral / personality trait do they stand by that you (mun) personally don’t agree with?
- Sometimes, certain people have to be permanently stopped.
- What’s a phrase they say a lot?
- ‘Egads’ or ‘oh goodness’. (Both unironically)
- Do they act on their immediate emotions, or do they wait for the facts before acting?
- Depends on her mood, but generally the former.
- Who would / do they believe without question?
- She tries not to do anything without question. She’s a scientist.
- What’s their instinct in a fight / flight / freeze / fawn situation?
- Flight (unless it's Host stuff, that’s fight).
- What’s something they’re expected to enjoy based on their hobbies / profession that they actually dislike / hate?
- Chemistry.
- If they’re scared, who do they want comfort from? Does this answer change depending on the type of fear?
- Eliza.
- What’s a simple daily activity / motion that they mess up often?
- Flipping eggs/pancakes/etc.
- How many hobbies have they attempted to have over their lifetime? Is there a common theme?
- A whole lot, generally revolving around self expression.
