Kraken is doing his usual business as a biologist with no medical patients to cloud his off-time, but a certain little sparkling has something to say about that.

Kraken was busy at work, hunched over his desk and  dissecting some retrieved techno organic fueled lifeform. A bit hard  with how big he was but he was very precise, using his digit extensions  to tip them to a fine point and sever any wires as he pulled out pieces  to set in a sterile tray.

His audial flicking as he heard a whine and his back  compartment opened on reflex, tentacles unfurling from their tight  curled state to open their optics and look around a tad worried.

Kraken echoing that same emotion but more hidden as he  turned and saw a small Snipglider trying to climb out of his playpen,  whining louder and trying to chew at the bars as his dentae  strengthened.

Kraken's audials flicked front to back in a slow fluid  motion before he slowly approached in barely a few steps to kneel and  get closer down to the sparkling's level.

"What has gotten you all fussed, Snipglider?"

He asked in his monotone, a glimmer of concern at the end  of the tot's name. Snipglider just makes a more firm 'ah' noise at him,  kicking his legs and his tiny wings shifting in their position with a  click of the developing mechanisms.

Snipglider was able to speak but he preferred not to, being  quite nonverbal and using random noises to communicate what he wanted  despite that not making it anymore clear. Kraken was well aware of this  factor, just using his soft and slow speaking voice to respond to  Snipper and go along with 'understanding' what he was babbling.

A slow nod at that single vowel of a response, Kraken's audials pointing back before forward as he addressed the tiny one.

"Is that so? Well, you're in there to stay safe. This is the most optimal location for you."

Snipglider just whined louder, blinking those big sad bright blue optics, wanting to see his presumed carrier.

Kraken sighed, optic closing and gesturing to a tentacle to  get him something to clean his servos before touching the little orange  orb. His tendril brought it back quickly as Snips was still trying to  get out, swinging his leg over the top of the edge of the pen and  falling right into Kraken’s palm as he caught him.

He couldn’t have been any bigger than a handful at this  point, Kraken bringing him closer to his facial plates to look at him.  Snipglider looking at him with a blink that turned into a big smile,  chirping with a giggle and swiping a tiny servo in his direction as  Kraken poked out his pointer finger to let Snipglider turn his helm and  pat it with both of his small ones. They were really tiny to match his  size, Kraken just enjoying the observation of how the little sparkling  was trying to process and understand things around him.

“There you are, are you happy now?”

Snips blowing a soft raspberry at him, squinting and his  tiny audials trying to lay back, causing Kraken to squint back and let  his audials mimic the behavior, smiling behind his mask.

How cute. Snipglider took after him in every way, and  Kraken taught him a ton of body language he used, if not on purpose but  just from how much Snippet watched him while he worked.

Kraken tapping at his soft cheek, protoform still hardening  into his armored hide as he grew as Snipglider gave a playful hiss and  bit into his digit, Kraken audibly chuckling as he wiggled his finger  lightly to try and make the child let go. His bite wasn’t quite on par,  almost like a tiny itch to someone as big as Kraken. Snips just holding  onto his finger with both small servos, not wanting to let go as he  growled happily, teething properly at his age.

“You’re really working on your bite strength too, aren’t you?”

A tiny poke at a tiny audial antenna as Snips let go with a  squeak, audial wiggling at the touch as he grabbed onto his other  finger with both arms and Kraken brought his hand back so Snipglider  could limit his chokehold on his movement.

“Calm yourself, child. I’ll let you watch me work if you can simmer down.”

Snipglider gave him those big saucer pan optics with an  accepting squeak, closing them to hug into his palm. He really did fit  so well into his grip, like he was meant to be held like this. Kraken  slowly standing, cupping his other servo over the tot to keep him from  falling as he stepped over to face his work surface, plopping Snipglider  on his shoulder that was quite flat and still enough as Snipglider  became content to lay on his belly and his cheek squish against the  purple metallic finish.

Kraken’s optic half-lidding in earnest affection as he  started working again, glancing at how well behaved Snipglider was when  he got to be close and just observe. How interesting, just like him when  he was a sparkling.
