Apple rushed by Erin and ran into her room and hastily slammed the door shut. Her mind and heart were racing. She rushed to her dresser and her dark eyes locked onto her own mirrored image. 'Dammit...' Apple thought. Her cheeks were a bright shade of red. She couldn't believe she was still so hung up on her encounter with Vonny. Apple sunk in defeat into her hands. She felt just how warm her cheeks were and got even more embarrassed. She was trying to rapidly shoot down any thoughts in her head regarding Vonny. "I'm never like this," she sighed and took a moment to think. Her eyes darted over to her left. Her hands drifted over towards a flower in a small makeshift vase. Apple didn't have anywhere better to put the flower but she didn't want it to wilt no matter what. Her left hand shakily reached towards the plucked delphinium. She had originally gotten it as a gift from Vonny but she was too embarrassed to admit to him that she had kept it for several weeks after he asked about it.

It was no doubt a beautiful flower as well. It was primarily a deep and vibrant shade of blue that reminded Apple of Vonny's eyes. Along the innermost parts of the flower, however, were splotches of a gorgeous shade of purple that perfectly faded into the blue hue of the rest of the flower. Apple picked the tall flower from its glass and held it in her hands for a bit. "I'll hold onto this for now..." Apple still couldn't bring herself to admit she loved Vonny. Apple could hear Erin's steps approaching. and she rushed to the door, hastily putting the flower back into place and hoping that Erin wouldn't notice. Apple reached for the doorknob and flung open the door.

"Are you feeling okay? You just like, came in and ran upstairs. You didn't even say hi to me or anything." Erin let out a little snicker. "Not very polite of you," they said sarcastically. Erin leaned to try to get a better view into the room that was being blocked by Apple, who was leaning on the doorframe to try to block Erin's view. Despite Apple's efforts Erin still saw all that they needed to. A grin filled Erin's face. "Ohoho don't tell me you're still holding onto that flower from Vontanious. I thought you said you hated him or whatever," they said smugly. "Well it was a good quality flower and I want to press it to save it because... it's a good flower," Apple stumbled while trying to maintain a poker face. She knew Erin wasn't going to buy it for a second, though. "Look Apple, I frankly couldn't care less if you liked that Vonny guy, I think you need to stop lying to yourself about it though because clearly you like him."

What Erin had said echoed in Apple's head long after they had left the doorway. Apple was lying on her bed, hands clasped together holding onto the flower. Apple knew Erin was right but even coming to terms with the mere thought of not despising Vonny made her embarrassed. She sat in silence for what felt like days, pondering what she could even do. Apple knew she would want to talk to Vonny about the flower and how much it meant to her but she didn't have the slightest clue how to go about it. The delicate flower felt as if she was holding the most precious of diamonds. "Why am I so attached to this damn flower," Apple muttered to herself. She knew exactly why. And she knew exactly what to do. She reached over to the short and sturdy table she was lying next to, grasping at her phone. She got up from her bed and retrieved a small crumpled up slip of paper that she stashed in her drawer. Apple took one more sharp breath before beginning to dial the sequence of numbers written neatly on the worn sheet of paper.

"Hello? This is Vontanious right?" Apple said in an even tone, trying to appear more deadpan than she actually was.

"Pshh who's asking?" A smug voice chirped.

"Oh wait, I know that voice! You're that little robot pest that follows Vonny around!" Apple lets out a groan. "Can you perhaps... get me on the phone with him?

"Not until you tell me who you are!" Laci replied

"Apple? Oh come on I know you have to recognize my voice," Apple barked, her patience thinning.

"Ohh! Alright fine. But only because he likes you!" Apple could hear shuffling and muttering from the other side of the call. Apple was shortly greeted by the voice of a certain tentacle-handed man.

"Hi Apple. Why'd you call?" Vonny asked. "Not that I mind or anything... It's nice hearing from you, it's just not anything I would have expected in ages, you calling me."

"Look Vonny, I just wanted to let you know I kept that flower you gave me."

"I-is that it? I'm- that-" Vonny stammered. "That's nice of you just... is that all? That's just a sort of strange thing to call me over."

"No no, it wasn't just because of that. Vonny I called just because I wanted to know that you mean a lot to me. Like, a lot." Apple took in a breath. "Would you maybe want to... go out and grab some lunch or dinner sometime soon. I'm free pretty much all of this week so I thought it would be nice to be able to do. Because I really do want to get to know you better, Vonny." Apple's face was turning red out of embarrassment. 'Thank god Vonny can't see me right now...' Apple thought.

Vonny stammered for a bit, flustered from Apple's request and then spoke. "I'd love that Apple. I'd be up to going to get dinner with you maybe... this Tuesday? Would that be good with you?"

"That'd be great, Vonny," Apple said with a grin across her face. Apple looked back to her right hand, which was still holding the delphinium flower and her smile grew. Maybe Vonny isn’t too bad.
