written on the morning of 4/7/23 because I love my fluffy hedgehog boy

also usin’ the name Oscar in this one because I feel like it

Oscar stretched awake, but didn’t overdo it, as to not wake up Bonnie or any of their other sleeping companions they were sandwiched in-between. They were the first to wake this morning.

Mr. Pricklepants awoke swiftly after, for he was a light sleeper and he slept right next to Oscar, so their movements meant he awoke second. Not that he minded. He loved having little moments like this with his beloved.

“Good morning, Oscar.” He said in a hushed yet still loving tone.

“Mmnh.. mornin’.” Oscar mumbled back.

Normally Oscar’s morning greetings were less apathetic than this. Pricklepants’ eyebrows slightly furrowed. “Oscar, are you alright?”

Oscar sighed. “Some spontaneous bad feelings. Not sure where they came from.”

“Ohh.. my bunny...”  Pricklepants’ voice swelled with sympathy. “Care to talk about it?”

“It’s just another case of gender dysphoria, not feeling like I’m good enough as a guy.”

“My sweet, you make a wonderful bachelor. Just look at you! Such a handsome prince. I’m lucky to have you.” Pricklepants made sure to include masculine words, because he knew it helped Oscar feel more like the lovely boy that they are. And Pricklepants meant every word of it.

Oscar couldn’t help but smile. No wonder they loved this thespian hedgehog so much. “Thanks, Romeo.”

“Of course, my Capulet.” Pricklepants treaded carefully with that, something he did with efficiency.

“Now let’s get back to sleep before we wake someone up.” He opened his arms for his beloved.

Oscar sunk into his arms. The two fluffy boys wrapped their plush paws around each other. Between this and the warmth of the shared blanket, it was easy for the both of them to slip right back into sleep.
