A fateful encounter was set in place that day, when he who stood in front of her was none other than that of a young boy. Familiar, in a sense. His hair, white, with an ever so slight blue tint, almost silver when the light shone upon it the right way, and the ends at the bottom half were an icy shade of light cobalt. Ibuki, however, knew not that the boy who stood in front of her was royalty; none other than the rebel prince of Hell, Delmore. His hair covered his eyes, but as the wind blew, she could see at a glance that his eyes were pitch black.

“What’s wrong with him?” she wondered.

Ibuki, as the newest Guardian Angel, earthbound and unaware of what her status would entail as a part of her future, needed all the help she could get. The fallen Angel who had entrusted her with this power had given her only vague details before her passing. Ibuki was a protector now, and that was all she knew. She stood there, staring at him, a fleeting feeling of trust that left her indecisive at the sight of the boy. Moments of silence as the world revolved around them for just a brief period.

“What’s the matter with you,” he spoke out, breaking the silence between them, “never seen a guy with horns before?”

“No, it’s not that!” she stuttered, “Well, yes, but that’s not it. I’m lost. This has been the most confusing day of my life, and I’m at a loss for words.”

She stepped towards him, closing the gap in the cold winter field.

“Do you know what it means to be a Guardian Angel?” She asks, deciding in that moment, to trust him with her new secret.

“I dunno anything about that,” says the prince, “but I’m lost, too. If you’re looking for a friend, then maybe this encounter today was fateful. The name’s Delmore.” He extends a pale hand towards the girl, a sincere grin spreading across his face. In the back of his head, he knew that this friendship might not be such a good idea, as his secret wasn’t so easy to spill. He knew he’d have to tell her someday, but in the moment held before him, he knew it would be better for both of them to partner up and find their footing together.

“Ibuki,” she states calmly, taking his hand and returning her own sincere smile. “Pleased to meet you!”
