Celeste laid her head on the chest of the champion of the Kanto region. “Hey… do you ever think about how things would be different. Like… alternate worlds.” Lance looked down at her and shrugged slightly, trying to not disrupt her.

“Sometimes. But isn't there a thing in Alola with that. Wormholes to other worlds.” He asked, playing with her short two toned hair as she hummed.

“Yeah, my friends went there recently. That’s why I’ve been thinking about it. You’ve been champion for a year now… what would it be like if you just weren’t..” She mumbled, turning closer to him and looking up. “You would have more time for me and you could help me study pokemon better.” she pouted as Lance laughed.

“You think I would be good with baby pokemon like you? I think I am much better suited as champion or an elite four member then a pokemon breeder, Celeste.” Lance smiled at them. Celeste looked up more at him and frowned.

“But… I..” She couldn't bring herself to admit she was lonely in this region of Kanto. She normally was always with her father or some form of family friend. Her father thought it was best for the teenager to learn and study pokemon away from his lab , away from Kalos after all that had happened to the both of them. After she had nearly died in the Team Flare base at the hands of her uncle figure, it was hard for either Sycamore to trust anymore. But Lance wouldn’t hurt them. Lance had too much to lose if Lance did hurt them. And Lance was sweet. He cared about his pokemon. He loved his pokemon and wanted to protect Celeste from what he could.

Celeste buried her face into Lance's jacket. Tears threatened her eyes. So much had happened since she was on her own pokemon journey not too long ago in Kalos. To say she had a lot going on was an understatement but being here with Lance made the loneliness feel less lonely. Celeste sniffled softly as she buried her face closer to Lance. AS close as they could get. “Thank you for being my friend.” She whimpered, teary eyed still.

“Ah Celeste!” He flusteredly rubbed her back , thinking she was crying for no reason at the sudden movement. “I.. I’m not good with things like this. Feelings and I have never been close friends.” He joked, trying to make her laugh. She looked at him with misty eyes.

“You have feelings besides pride? That's funny Lance.” she sniffled and chuckled. She rested her chin on his shoulder , watching him closely. His faint freckling on his cheeks, signaling how much time he spent outside. How his smile was crooked like he never really smiled this much before. How his eyes were sharp but softened often looking at her. She closed her eyes and hummed.

“Lance, I think you’re really neat.” She mumbled out, making him give her his crooked smile.

“Thanks Celie. “ Celeste never got butterflies around people, but hearing Lance call her Celie made her stomach flip. She felt happy and sick at the same time. What was this feeling? She wasn’t used to it at all.

“LANCE! A challenger is here to battle the elite four! Come on and get ready.” A representative of the league walked through the doors of Lance’s room, Celeste jumped off his bed and straightened out her outfit.

“AH WELL! BYE LANCE!” She shouted , not meaning to and flinched slightly at how loud she was before taking off out of the room and down the hall to the elevator to leave the building that the elite four members and champions lived in.

Lance stared at the space she was just in and chuckled.

“Well, at least they are quick to leave. I wanted to stay here a moment more though.” He sighed , thinking about the warmth they gave him just by spending time with him.

“Champion Lance? Was that trainer your girlfriend?” The rep asked him, raising an eyebrow at the 16 year old champion.

“HUH? No. Ms. Sycamore is training around the different regions right now to become a pokemon professor assistant and is a pokemon breeder currently living with Professor Oak.”

“Sycamore? Is she related to Augustine Sycamore, the pokemon professor in Kalos ?” The rep asked more as Lance got off his bed and dusted himself off and adjusted his jacket in the mirror near his bed.

“Yes. She’s special to me. Please if she comes back , do not harass her about being here.” he told the representative and headed out the doors, going the opposite way Celeste left- heading towards the elevators that lead to the pokemon league.

“Celie i hope you're okay..” He muttered, hoping that the enby would be okay after the random onset of almost tears. He made a mental note to check on them after the battle. He would make a clean sweep and deal with the battle fast to get back to her faster.
