Turin was part of a project of their own with a little team of others, trying to develop a system good enough to hold someones conscience, while giving that them enough of an ability to move and act inside the system.
Uploading your mind, translating it into binaries, good enough to move yourself from your mortal body to that of a machine.
A machine that can easily be repaired, upgraded, making it immortal, making yourself immortal.
A machine whose content you can easily manage yourself, clean out data and memories you want to save, you want to erase.
Contacts you want to finaly block out fully or put into focus.

It is like a dream come true, immortality and full control of your own mind using nothing but humanities tools, science and technology.

This project, it did not end the way it was supposed to for Turin.

At the final day of testing, having put Turin up as the tester to prove that this very project and system are safe and working
that immortality is just a step away,
one of the components overloaded, causing a full black out in the middle of transfer.
Circuits shutting down, lights going off, everything went dark.

Everything blacked out, and when Turin woke up, they found themself outside.
Blue skies shining, fresh cold grass swaying and the wind painting over their skin.

Was it...successful?
They look around, finding themself alone in a new unfamiliar world.
No cars honking, no smog sufficating the skies.
A new freedom discovered, they see themself down in the reflection of a little body of water.

...?

Parts of them glitching, as if something was missing, something was supposed to be there but it also is not there.
Other parts of them, reminding of a bird.

It has always been like this.
I feel more complete than ever. Whole than ever.
This is right.
This is my home.
Hah!
