Arcane Inspiration

With intention and purpose, Cloudy scanned the library shelves, looking for anything that might help her with her quest. Step stool and magnifying glass in hand (you’d be surprised how small some of these scholars could write)  she used her keen eye for detail to search the rows for something that could help her save her dad and more importantly, though maybe not to her more emotional side, the world.

Books on topics that she never considered someone could write more than a couple hundred words about, let alone entire tomes, lined the shelves. Who knew there was a difference between the feathers in a quill or that brooms had very specific instructions for their care or that there were so many types of either in the first place!? It certainly wasn’t any concern of her own. However, while browsing through topics of magic and incantation the idea had struck her, perhaps some of these spells could be of use? Perhaps these could be the tool she was missing, to make sense of her father’s disappearance and also to add some panache to her abilities which quite frankly had recently been lacking.

She copied down what she could from the library, she’d have to ask about this later when she saw Leila again. Perhaps even giving the poor girl some gold in exchange for her time, she should be studying and practicing, not bartending or greeting visitors or doing whatever else it was she had been up to. Or if Leila was truly busy, she was in a school for magicians from all walks and while her purse wasn’t especially heavy, she had enough to be persuasive if need be.

She made her list, giggling at the idea of being able to give someone else fleas with a cantrip like Infestation, smirking at the thought of causing her enemies to turn tail and flea in horror with a spell like Cause Fear, and relishing in the thought that maybe, just maybe, she could use one of these spells to speak with her father, even for just a moment.
