Standing in a robe that draped around his body to the ground, his tails wrapped around his shoulder like a braided shawl, Aolis ate a sweet on a stick an looked at Karuma. They were spending the festival eating junk food and fooling around people who looked too serious. His back was to the commotion that suddenly and abruptly broke out, and as someone bumped into him, he dropped his pastry. Leaning down, he reached for it to throw it away, when he heard screaming. Eyes widening, he looked up at Karuma, his body taunt. "What's... going on?" He asked, fear etched on his face for a second before disappearing and he grabbed Karuma's wrist. "You okay?" He asked the other male, glancing around to try to figure out what was going on.

He'd never been to a festival before. In all his years, Karuma had been sheltered. He'd never been allowed to go to festivals-- religion was to be taken seriously and festivals were only an excuse for people to indulge in their vices, his mother had always told him. And maybe she was right, but why was it so fun? Karuma barely had any time to feel guilt over it as he partied with Aolis, whom he'd been getting to know over the past few months. It was all fun and games until a deity god kidnapped. Karuma stared, waiting for Hayate to return, but disquiet began to rise as a message was displayed on the big screens in the city. It had to be a joke, right? Who the hell could kidnap a god? He stared, slack-jawed, as the kitzens around him began to panic. "This-- this is a prank, right?" He asked, glancing to Aolis with an uncomfortable look.

"I don't- I don't know if it's a prank but I think we need to get out of here. Fast," Grabbing Karuma's hand, twining his fingers with his protectively,  he turned and quickly began walking away from the density of the festival. Looking around, the illusion kit looked directly at Karuma's eyes, his own intense.  "We need to do something," He said. Like he had any authority. "I can get us in the temple with my illusions but I'm not a fighter in case something happens."  Biting his lip, the feminine male let go of the other and started pacing. "We're mere spectators to this debacle. However.... they can use all the help they can get. You know?" Aolis, what world were you living in? Looking up at Karuma, he looked fearful but somehow it mixed with a stern bravery.  "Do you want to break into the temple and see if we can find her? You don't have to join me, but I need to explore this. I need to know. Without her, we're missing harmony within the deity circle. Someone had to at least check it out while it's still fresh. Even if it's...you and I."

Karuma had little time to argue before Aolis grabbed his hand and pulled him away. He looked over his shoulder at the place where Hayate had disappeared. Gods, how could this happen…? “Do something?” He echoed incredulously. “Like what? I mean, shit, what’re we going to do? If a god can get kidnapped, fuck…” Karuma glanced away, his ears flattening. His tail twitched back and forth anxiously. Despite the logic screaming in his mind that it was an awful idea, part of him really wanted to see exactly how the hell this was possible. “I mean… the guards are going to be crawling all over the place. Do you really think we could make any sort of impact?”

Humming slowly, his eyes glowing a soft red, he started to shift reality almost. Soon the world itself had fog, and with that fog, their disguise. Lowering his gaze, he bit his lip. "I can keep us invisible maybe. However, don't make any noise, or then we'll be heard." Grabbing Karuma's hand, he smiled, though he looked anxious. "You can count on me to disguise you, okay? Don't worry, we won't get caught. Just go in and see if we can see anything suspicious that no one notices." ...Aolis, stop it. Stop being a little instigator. You'll go to jail.  Eyes glow intensifying, the world seemed to change again, rain silently falling from the sky but.... he was hoping no one noticed they couldn't feel it. Just see it. Not to mention they had to be close to him for the illusion to work. His abilities were more passive, so he hoped they didn't need protection or defense suddenly.

"Ohhh, my gods." Karuma groaned, realizing that he really was just going to go along with this. It was dangerous and stupid, and yet, he was absolutely going to let Aolis drag him along. He hoped that his magic would suffice and that they wouldn't end up spirited away by a god-snatcher too. "Fine, okay, fuck." He replied, hurrying along after him.

As the rain fell softly from the sky, people seemed confused - wasn't the weather perfect for a festival? The people around didn't seem to register an illusion when they saw one. They really thought it was raining. Then again, a god just got taken. Someone might have summoned their wrath? Still shuffling towards the temple, eventually pushing open the door and guiding Karuma in, Aolis noticed how quiet it was....  Frowning, he stood up straight, looking at the other before glancing at the room. Where was everyone? Shouldn't there be guards everywhere? Not letting his guard down, a fog in the room, the illusion kit started to investigate. That's... when he found nothing suspicious. Really, it was a quiet temple. Peaceful, like Hayate themself. Frowning, he delved deeper inside, hushed whispers going quiet in confusion by the monks that worked here when they saw the fog. Looking at Karuma, he sighed."Maybe we won't find anything?" He murmured, putting a hand on his hip and glancing around the room. Silence. Utter silence.

Karuma kept close to his companion as they snuck into the building. He froze up as a set of guards ran past them, expecting that they’d get caught and arrested, but they sprinted by without sparing the two 20-somethings a glance. He slowly relaxed, though anxiety churned in his gut as they pressed on. “Doubt it.” He murmured softly. What could they find that the guards wouldn’t? Karuma scanned the faces of all of the monks and priests as they ducked behind pillars within the temple. Each of them had expressions of confusion and fear etched into their expressions. “Fuck, they’re just as confused as we are…”

Something caught his attention, making his head snap to the side and look at a figure that wasn't there. Was he seeing things? With a frown, he stepped closer to Karuma. Something felt off - something in his senses were sickeningly sweet to him, to the point he wanted to gag. This was more dangerous than he thought. Grabbing Karuma's hand, he smiled at him, eyes trying and failing to be playful. "Let's... go back to our houses. Something is... bad here, I can feel it," Starting to the door, he didn't let the fog lessen. His eyes were now flickering around nervously. Something was off, here.  Something was wrong. Like this was just the beginning of something darker.  With a shuddering sigh, he opened the door, stepping into the night air and into the chaotic crowd. Once in the night and farther away from the temple than he wanted to admit, he smiled at Karuma, trying and failing to hide his fear."We probably shouldn't be here," He said, pointing at the temple. it was a bad place to be in, maybe? Something was off, that much he knew, and he wanted to help but... he wanted to stay alive too.
