this is mostly for myself. I chose not to add any characters because it mentions almost all and adding them would be annoying.

- alts

Alts (short for Alternative to Humanity™) are human-like robotic creatures typically used for companionship or basic tasks. since their launch in 2009, they have become widely popular, being used around the world. Alts can be commissioned, but are commonly bought on their release through bidding. no two alts are the same, and even if certain types use the same model, their personalities vary greatly.

Haushold Alts (made in germany.)
the most common (and the oldest) type of Alt is the Household (stylized as Haushalt or Haushold). the main reason behind their popularity is their ability to build meaningful relationships and differing personalities. Haushold Alts rely heavily on their owner’s instructions, and respond very poorly to being moved from one holder to the next.

Purposeful Alts (made in usa)
with the first model being released in 2014, Purposeful Alts have become a close competitor for the Hausholds. their objective is to complete a certain task (decided on by their owner). they can be told to do anything from construction to cleaning. once a task is completed (or done to the best of the Alt’s ability), they will return to their owner for further instruction.

Stationary Alts (made in japan)
this is the newest (first model released to the public in 2020) and most experimental kind of Alt. they are quite similar to Hausholds, but with the lowest cognitive function of any Alt types seen previously. there have only been a handful of models released to the public, but according to the ceo, more are in development. stationeries are described in an interview by him as: “they (stationary) don’t have a set function, per se. their existence functions more to be… a pet. similar to a dog or cat, but in a humanoid form.”
